Movies THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER (New Trailer)

I had heard speculation that post Endgame MCU would be woke MCU (female Thor, Korean hulk, 13 year old black girl iron man etc.). Guess it might be true.

I think around a month ago there were news that Hemsworth (can't remember was it before Ragnarok or after) signed a new contract or extension for multiple movies, like 8 or something like that. So plan is clearly to not shelve him until another Avengers movie.

I'd say the difference is that most of the other original Avengers started off as characters with more depth to them were as Thor has only really moved in that direction more recently, hence still has a lot of potential arc to him.

They better not pussy out on this and not make Nat Portman lady Thor.

You wanna make a lady Thor you do it Marvel. Roll that fuckin dice

I dislike the idea that Thor is a title that can be passed and hoped they would avoid it in the MCU.
However Waititi can turn it into a fun movie.

People complaining about Portman's looks need to check themselves. She is one of the prettiest creatures to ever walk this Earth. And in the right vehicle she is an amazing actress.
I'd just prefer it if she walked away from the Thor franchise now that its got momentum.

Yeah, if I remember right, in the original comics it was some random dude who turned into Thor when he got hold of the Hammer but in MCU the hammer was there to allow Thor to channel / control his own power.

Most likely she just gets those thunder god powers somehow. I have faith in Waititi to pull it off.

Maybe her getting those powers have something to do with time travel and how Rocket extracted that reality stone from her in endgame (how exactly did cap put it back btw?) ?

Injected it back in.
If you know what I mean.

After some time thinking about it, i'm getting slightly pissed... All this time, we were wondering who was worthy. Cap (though i'm forever and always team Iron Man) lifting the hammer was one of the most spectacular moments in MCU. And now, they just flat out say it, before the movie is even in production: Jane is freakin' worthy??? And will become Thor??

That said, this title art is beyond ridiculous. I LOVE it.

Well, the hammer doesn't exist anymore and we don't know if the axe has same requirement. It was Odin who in the first Thor movie made it so that only those worthy can wield it.

My bad, I forgot the (presumed) story is that Mjolnir is somewhere Cap left it. Pretty sure he'd direct Thor to the whereabouts of Mjolnir and not just leave it laying around. Regarding Stormbreaker (yes, it has no Odin enchantments), I'm not sure how Cap was able to wield it. It's a Kings weapon, he should be dead. Also, why didn't wielding of Mjolnir turn Cap into asgardian looking warrior? It did so everytime now (MCU and CBU).

This. They already had Vision lift it. But Cap wielding it was still an amazing moment. And he seemed super OP after he wielded it. Just wish the movie showed us how fat Thor compared power wise with Storm breaker VS phase 2 Thor because no way does phase 2 Thor stand a chance against Thanos.

No one stands a chance against Thanos (sigh, Wanda and Cap Marvel i.e. deus ex machinas, not included). Cap (with Mjolnir), Thor (with Stormbreaker) and Iron Man (with nano tech suit) combined could not win.
I guess they didn't face off Fat Thor and Thor bcs they had that thing with Cap.

I just hope the Mjolnir (or Stormbreaker) don't become this thing where someone has to lift it to prove themselves worthy (something akin to the CBU where Hulk or Thing had to have their asses beat in order for someone to prove their strength/battle proves). In no time, it will be plethora of characters lifting/wielding it.

Yes I was going to say that, I spose Cap does use lighting to attack Thanos with the hammer but generally you get the sense that its a weapon to enhance power rather than one to give them in itself. I suspect you'll see some kind of situation where she gains powers in another fashion? maybe something to do with leftover Asgard technology/magic. Its all deliberately ill defined so I don't see that being very difficult to work out.

I think the bigger issue is really shifting her personality beyond the rather bland character we see in the first two films, perhaps tie that into gaining powers? I mean Portman has played snarky characters before pretty well.

Yea I wonder why they announced it. Maybe they don’t want people going into the movies not knowing this fact and they get a bunch of criticism. They got a little backlash for making Thor fat out of nowhere. I can see people being really upset expecting hemsworth and being thrown for a loop

I’m honestly down for some diversity if marvel can make it work. There’s nothing like a strong male lead but I can deal with some characters being women. I have no problem with characters being Asian or black if they can actually act

What does seem clear is that Marvel isn't going to be focused on building up another big story in the short term ala Thanos. It makes sense I spose as we've seen from DC the weakness of rushing these things and as big as End Game was you could argue the real story over the last 5 years is how successful Marvel has been across a broad base. Its no longer a case that you have Ironman and the Avengers as the big draws and everything else is much smaller, Black Panther, Thor, The Guardians, Spiderman, etc all are billion dollar(ish) franchises now and indeed they have much smaller budgets.

I could see Marvel's plan being to stick more to stand alone stories with a vaguer degree of interconnection for the next 3-4 years and hold back another big interconnected story until the sense audiences might be tiring. I don't think Marvel's view is "we'll be happy with another 5 years of films then stop", there view is they'll keep things running as long as possible, wouldn't be supprised if you have vague plans for the next decade.
