Thompson vs. Rory MacD - worst matchmaking after Conor-Diaz II

Horrible... just horrible.

Can't think of a worse matchup (save for the worst one - Conor vs. Diaz II). If Rory wins it will be a 2nd rematch (Rory lost twice to him already). And who wants to see that 3rd fight between them?
If Thompson wins... I think his stock will drop a little since Rory is a durable fighter and will make him look bad, which in the end will make him not very marketable against Lawler.

How does WB's stock drop if he beats #2 in the division Rory? Even if WB loses his stock doesn't take that much of a hit.

Contenders have to knock each other off. That's the only way to make sense in the ultra deep, ultra competitive WW division. If everyone in the WW division got the deserved TS that we'd have title fights scheduled to 2018. Condit, WB, Woodley, Rory, Maia, Magny, and Robbie (in case of a close loss) all have claims at the title.

Rory vs WB makes sense that it gives a clearer picture of the top of the WW food chain. And if WB can't beat Rory than he probably doesn't deserve a shot anyway.

Agreed. I will say though if GSP comes back to fight Robbie then it makes sense. Otherwise I don't know what Joe Silva and the UFC were thinking. Basically Robbie's next fight better be GSP otherwise anyone else just doesn't make sense. I guess Condit kind of does cause he was robbed but still.
