I've seen a couple threads lately discussing Garbrandt's recent comments on Almeida's alleged padded record and how he believes he has the edge in terms of overall competition experience. So I decided to compare the numbers and found that:
Garbrandt's pro MMA opponents have a combined record of 55 wins and 29 losses. (The combined record of his amateur opponents is 23 wins and 14 losses - 9 of those wins coming from Jerrell Hodge who defeated Garbrandt by KO).
As an amateur boxer he has a record of 32-1.
In 2007 he won a state championship in wrestling as a freshman, was a runner-up the following year and was also a Senior National All-American in 2010.
Conversely, Almeida's pro MMA opponents have a combined record of 163 wins and 103 losses. (Couldn't find any amateur record).
As a Muay Thai fighter he has a record of 29-2.
So considering all this, who do you think has the more valuable experience between the two? Does Garbrandt's wrestling experience mean more? Or does the overall depth of experience with Almeida's opponents indicate otherwise?
