I like the kid and think he'll be top 5 for a long time. But when I look at him, he appears to be a lesser version of Barao...they're both good at the same thing, but Barao was miles ahead in all categories.

When Barao fought Pickett at 23 (Almeida's current age)...he ran through him into a beautiful finish, Almeida on the other hand was getting outstruck and dropped twice by Pickett, and losing the first round before the beautiful knee. And mind you, this was an old, near the end Pickett...as opposed to Barao beating Pickett while he was around his best.

I don't see Almeida exempt from getting Dillashaw'd by someone at some point

We do not speak of the one bit by the snake

Barao never got tagged that much until the Dillashaw fight. Almeida gets hit all the time.

They both get hit a lot. They both gets wrecked by TJ.

Barao's main strenght is on the ground while Almeida's is his striking. So you can already stop there.

So Pickett is the measuring stick of a BW's skill and greatness? Got it.

Solid MMAth

I think Almeida's defense is worse than Barao's
We will see how he avoids Cody's overhands and some other good stuff he has

Garbrandt is a lesser version of *insert alpha male fighter*

Lol MMAth.

Fighter A looked better against Fighter B, than Fighter C when he fought Fighter B.

Therefore Fighter A > Fighter C

Sometimes fighters peak to young lad, look at Shogun, his best days were at 23 before his body started to give out on him. Whereas someone like Reem has looked BETTER as he's aged and continues to do so.

Might be but he's 5 years younger so he has time to grow.

I just watched Almeida vs Pickett again yesterday. I know Pickett has some really good hands, but damn, Almeida was getting hit a lot. I know Cody is a good boxer too so I am very worried for Almeida this weekend. I think he has a good all around game but he really needs to fix that defense because you can't keep taking punches flush to the face forever.
