I know money talks but this isnt wwe? Is this for the entertainment only? somewhere along the way baldie and the fruits forgot it was a professional sport not just business. If this was the case with other sports i.e. Football theyd fix bayern to play barca and real to play psg in the semi's

Yea, you nailed it buddy....That's why UFC isn't mainstream because.....SOCCER!!!!! WTF????

It's not mainstream because people didn't grow up with it ingrained in the culture, just like soccer is somehow not mainstream in the US. They also haven't been as good as other sports at sweeping all the PED stuff under the rug by taking care of it in house, because they have to deal with the athletic commissions.

Long way? They aren't even on the track

this second fight will be the most mainstream fight ever. finally doing something the fans want

The fights not official yet, there's still time for mcgregor to run over a pregnant woman and get suspended

Actually stuff like this is pushing the sport more mainstream.

The mainstream doesn't give two shits about the integrity of this sport. They view it as fighting, think they could do it, and prefer a loud mouthed hype builder, with tons of pre-fight theatrics over anything else.

Finally, someone with common sense. It’s FIGHTING, cage fighting to people that don’t follow it closely. The more bizarre things get, the more it’s talked about. Therefor the more “mainstream” it gets. Quit your whining.

Lol what? This is going to get the most mainstream coverage possible. This is a huge rematch from a PPV that did 1.5 Million buys.

Holy Shertard
UFC making the biggest fight they could possibly make at their biggest event ever is about as mainstream as it gets
Ridiculous thread lol

I think theyre relying on the business part of it too much because it brings them the most profit but what i dont understand is that since the baldie and fruits are already rich as hell why dont they try to make it a real mainstream sport. Because they rely on cash cows such as conor what are they gonna do when they fail. For all i know they did everything to protect him gave him the most easiest fight possible and he still failed.

Diaz was the easiest fight possible?

Between that and your obvious lack of knowledge of what 'mainstream' is, makes this one helluva thread lol

Im sorry english isnt my first language but mainstream was the wrong term.

Ok who was easier than diaz? Now you have to think at the time before diaz destroyed him

Things that make mainstream viewers uneasy:

Fighting in a cage as opposed to a ring

Lots of blood flowing freely and smeared everywhere

Straddling your opponent on the ground and continuing to pound their face and head with punches and elbows

Don't flame me because other people think these things are unsporting. I'm down with it the way it is for the most part.

Also: gay looking wrestling.

Outside the UFC the fuckery is even greater.. even more in (kick)boxing... Two wrongs don't make a right but it is kinda engrained into modern martial arts it seems.

At the same time.. i do want to see Conor - Diaz 2 so i'm cool.

Yeah they did.

Also, he's a white Irish guy with a talented mouth that KO's people. That nails their targeted demographic out of the park. The UFC's largest demographic and people generating the most revenue for the UFC are white males age 18-35. That's why they invested so much in him and still are.
