Elite LHWs can be competitive against HWs. There was a huge disparity in Miocic and Maldonado's standing in the sport even despite the weight class difference.

 

HWs are beyond human. They have bigger bones, bigger bodies, stronger, dominant men. HW is prof that the bigger the better. Roy Nelson > Jon Jones. Mark Hunt > Alexander Gustoffson. Soa Palelei > Glover Texiera!!!

 

Sean McCorkle > Anderson Silva.

Was anyone under the impression that Fabio Maldonado was a good LHW?

 

It was an impressive performance by Stipe, but not some cosmic lesson about the unstoppable power of heavyweights.

Dave Herman, a former UFC HW with 15 KO wins, just fought Kalib Starnes for 15 minutes, hit him with everything but the kitchen sink, and never had him in real danger. Doesn't mean HWs can't KO guys. Just like this fight doesn't mean they always can.

i think as a rule equally ranked hws would beat lhws, but the top lhws can hang at hw. jones, gus, glover, rashad, dc can all be competitive if not beat some top 10 hws
