I wouldn't. Pro wrestling's downfall to me occurred when they tried to make it seem too real in the mid 2000s. The attitude era was kind of lame but the storylines were good because of the competition between wwe and wcw. Maybe it's purely out of nostalgia but late 80s-mid 90s gimmicky wrestling was the best.

I have wwe network just to watch the old matches.

Just watched an Ambrose vs Orton match and damned if it wasn't good, nice pace, some cool chains, wicked heat with Rollins showing up at the end.

NXT is great too, Sami Zayn is the best guy over there imo. Cant wait for him to debut on the main roster

Check out Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, just a good ole fashioned indy fed based out of LA. I go to virtually every show and its a fun time. I will admit it probably doesn't come across as well on DVD as it does in person but that's most feds.

Kevin Steen in WWE should be awesome. Dude is the best thing going in wrestling IMO.

I was a huge wrestling fan as a child and then through the nWo era. I ended up switching back to WWE because WCW ran that shit into the ground and Austin was just too awesome. I actually knew Austin from his WCW/Dangerous Alliance days (a really good time for WCW, but I was too young to fully appreciate it).

Anyways, a lot of my best friends are my friends because we bonded over the Monday Night Wars in middle school. We all stopped watching around 2000 when WWF bought up WCW and ECW. What a fucking let down that was. But even after that we'd make an effort to watch Mania and we always reference wrestling for laughs.

Fast forward to now, they're all fucking smarks again. I join them for PPVs, but I havent been watching Raw. It's TERRIBLE now. Every wrestler has some generic name, like Tom Stevens or what have you. I think to be a wrestler you just need a beard, some tats and two first names. No gimmick necessary. Everyone has like 4 finishers and none of them work. All the theme songs are generic heavy trash rock with some sound clip in the beginning. Long gone are the days of carefully thought out characters like The Million Dollar Man (well there's a couple but they don't stand a chance at getting pushed).
