Marius was the guy in charge of creating the Marian Reforms which basically made the Roman Legions what they stand for even to this day..

Right now I just got a new book which is all about Caesars X Legion.. Nice read at the moment.

More like a bastardized form of Middle English. Old English is so rooted in Germanic (Anglo, Saxon and Jutes) influences that it's almost unrecognizable to the modern equivalent.
