Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy is my second favorite band behind Metallica and Phil Lynott is my all time favorite songwriter. The one thing I hate about US radio is that they only play Jailbreak, The Boys Are Back In Town and Whiskey In The Jar. As good as those songs are there is a whole slew of material that is way better.

Just check out this version of The Sun Goes Down from their gig at the Regal Theatre Hitchin in 1983. Phil pours his heart and soul out in this song. Also when he says "no, it's not Whiskey in the fucking Jar" shit makes me laugh every single time. The music world lost one of the greatest lyrical poets, front men and bassist ever when Phil departed this earth in 1986.

My favourite Thin Lizzy song and the first solo is one of my favourite solos ever

I'll add this to the thread

Just seeing the name had me humming the keyboard solo in the middle of the song.

What is your fav Thin Lizzy album? For me it is Black Rose followed by Live and Dangerous.

Being from Manchester. Phil and thin Lizzy are folklaw.
There is a whole lot of truth in the fact that the boys are back in town was written about some Proper old school gangsters from the 60s in Manchester.
This is no secret or anything. They were called the quality Street gang.
And that song was wrote about them.

It's quite a cool story really.

There seems to be a lot of Thin Lizzy fans on Sherdog so lets get a thread going on your favorites.

I used to love Thin Lizzy. They had zero lame songs, as I can recall, which is more than I can say for just about every other band. There's one song that I really liked, but I can't remember the name. If anyone can help me with this, here's a 15-second recording of me humming the song as I recall it. I never claimed to be a good singer, so no nasty remarks if you don't mind.

Only bad part about this is that... well, it's about God...

Great otherwise. One of their very best imo.
