This seems to be a fight that a lot of people don't even know is happening, considering the lack of talk about it. I think it has the potential to be very exciting if both guys show up in prime form.

Thiago was for a long time one of the premier strikers in the WW division, building up a 7-fight win streak culminating with a failed title bid against GSP after starting with a pedestrian 2-2 record with the company. Most recently, he came away with a dominant decision win over Patrick Cote.

Zak Cummings, on the other hand, has made a name for himself by being one of the most consistent and versatile welterweights in the world, losing only to top level talent in Gunnar Nelson and Santiago Ponzinibbio. Despite that, he has never been able to put more than 2 wins together in his Octagon career, and considering that he's carrying a 2-fight win streak into his fight with Thiago, he could be his biggest enemy in the cage if he were to let such things get to him.

I know this isn't exactly one of the high profile fights of the card, but shieet, I felt like it deserved to get some love.

Tried to find some of Cummings, but all I got was one of him getting choked. I swear that he's a good fighter and fun to watch though, I'm not making that up.

2009 Alves by leg kicks.

Now I dunno.

I just got done watching Cummings vs Coy on Fight Pass. I didn't know anything about him but he looks good.

Alves used to be a beast. Was my fav fighter but he was on gear and too many injuries, plus no gear and he’s probably not gonna crack top 10 again.

I like Zak Cummings in this one. Solid left hand, and legit grappler. With Alves, you just never know if he's going to look like a monster, or show his age.

Cummings has only put together 2 wins in a row but Alves record in the last 9 years is full of loses and has only one 2 fight win streak, so I'm not counting Cummings out on that basis.

That's horrifying. Thiago is a beast. I was sure he would beat GSP.

Cummings

Statistically picking against Brazilian fighters usually renders you victorious now a days.

Been an Alves fan since joining UFC. The guy was a killer with weight problems. Now he is getting up there in age. Would love to see him go out with some wins. #SWEEP THE LEG!!!

Yeah, my basis for picking Cummings is that he never really has an off night. Dude is always competitive regardless of who he's fighting.

Watching him dismantle Dalby made me a fan.

Would be fucking awesome to see Thiago showcase his awesome leg kicks and TDD combo once again.

Zak Cummings?

The Strikeforce Challengers jobber? Even he’s destroying the UFC? LOLZ Gracie

I think Cummings will stun and submit Thiago at this point

Fighters get better. Shocking, I know.

Besides, he lost to Tim Kennedy at 185.

Cummings should take him down pretty easily and on the ground he should finish him
