This is an amazing fight. So excited to see Alves at lightweight. So many great matchups, imagine Alves vs Barboza!! I think Alves tears Iaquinta up and cements himself in top 15! I think he could be a future champion in the division! His problem at welterweight was just the range but at lightweight he will be unstoppable.

lol how in the world can anyone say Alves will win this. Al has great boxing and has beaten up much better fighters than Thiago has been over the last 6 years. Al has beaten Masvidal and Pearson along with jlau allof whom are better fighters than Alves and specifically the first two guys as they are much better mma strikers than thiago has been for the last 6 years. Al is on a 4 fight win streak, Thiago got blown out by Condit, was getting the living shit kicked out of him by Mein before Jordan quit the sport inside the cage that night and arguably barely won/ lost a decision to Seth B. Thiago isnt even a top 30 ww and Ill stand by that remark. Al is a top 10 fighter and Thiago has never made the 155 cut before. How the hell can anyone favor thiago alves here???

I think you're really just hating on alves. Al got lucky against masvidal with that decision, Pearson would get brutalized by thiago, lauzon is a shot fighter that alves would tko in the first. You can say what you want about his loss to condit, but al would do much worse and you know it. Jordan mein was winning, but so was Conor up until they both lost. And his fight against Seth after how many years off and surgeries? If al faced ANY of the fighters Thiago did, he'd be out of the ufc and retired by now.

I know Alves has been shrinking in recent years but I'm still going to need to actually see him make weight before I get excited for a LW fight involving him esp. post IV ban.
