They want $80 for this?

Yep, it’s all intentional.

They raise the price of PPV’s right before Ngannou’s fight, then pair him with the least appealing male champion pair among casual fans.

then leave the main card bare so even hardcore fans are iffy about the card.

All by design
Well said, this 100%.

2 great title fights, Topuria, Pereira, & Said?

Not worth $80 but it's a fine ppv. We've been spoiled by the 266, 267, 268, & 269 run. In fact every ppv since 256 has delivered or overdelivered. Until they don't I'm going to continue to get excited.

Do you mean they intend to have low ppv numbers so they can tell Francis that his worth is lower than it actually is ?
Actually asking, I'm fucking tired lol. 4 AM here after the main event...

Yeah not worth it. Shame because the main and co-main are both bangers.

Yes, the UFC is preparing for negotiation war. After the relationship with Francis went south, the first fail safe was enacted, Cyril Gane gets an interim belt less than 5 months after Francis won the real belt. They have built and promoted a new star to erase Francis.

In the event Gane falls then PPV critique is the second fail safe of negotiation. They’ve been preparing for this since they disrespected Francis with the interim.

Every single year they have PPV’s that don’t do well, and they can choose which fighters serve as the sacrificial lambs within the process.

How would it look if this card sold 1mil buys? Ngannou would have serious leverage in negotiation, now what leverage will he really have if it sells just 450k? Then to ensure everything works out, they increase the price of PPV’s to lessen any hope of this being a highly successful card.

The UFC loves long term deals, and using Ngannou to carry this card and hurt his leverage will allow the UFC to save millions upon millions on a long term deal with Ngannou. Remember 500k-2mil additional payment a fight for Ngannou doesn’t seem like a large amount. Until you see that 500k-750k will many times pay for an entire fight night worth of talent.

Your talking about two guys that had a falling out and now HATE each other!

As long as people continue to pay those prices even though they can easily find hundreds of free 1080P - 4K live streams of UFC PPV's all over the worldwide web you will continue to get these watered down fight cards. If UFC PPV buys took a nosedive they would lower the price and stack the PPV's.

I don't mind spending money on a product I enjoy. This will be a fun card. $80 is steep, I won't be spending it on every card, but I will on this one for sure!

If they can provide justification for a price hike, I'd consider buying, but at this point, I'm done buying PPVs.
This is one of those "How much can we get away with?" moves that I will not be funding.
