Social They gave my son an insect to eat in school

Grasshoppers carry a parasite that if consumed, can begin to grow worms in your digestive system. Happens a lot when people eat grasshoppers even when they’re supposedly cooked. What’s worse is treatment for the worms is extremely expensive. Good luck

I sure am glad that eating raw/undercooked beef/chicken/pork is safe!

I am no expert in this area but I am curious so if you can point me to any studies supporting what you say I would love to read them as it goes completely contrary to what I have read so far in terms of harvest, yeild, quality of protein, cost, etc.

But maybe I am being led to certain articles so I look forward to your links.

It's pretty simple to look up the comparative cost of protein powder based on online seller retail costs. Since locust eaters prefer to eat them in powdered form mixed into other foods this is the fairest comparison.

A 1lb bag of cricket protein on Amazon is $10

It contains 10 servings at 7g of protein per serving. 10 * 7 / 10 = 7grams of protein per dollar or 14 cents per gram of protein.

Let's compare to common whey protein powder found in every nutrition store.

I chose the highest rated isolate on Amazon that wasn't a sponsored link.

The container cost 43 dollars and contained 43 servings at 25g of protein per serving. Once again we math.
25 * 43 / 43 = 25 grams of protein per dollar or 4c per gram.

Cricket protein is 3.5x more expensive than the premium variant of it's nearest substitute with included sugars and flavors to make it taste like a milkshake. Pure whey isolate would BTFO it even harder concidering it's ultimately a by product of cattle production and we still get to have steak at the end of the day. Hardly some super efficient method of creating protein for consumption. In fact, it's the opposite. Which is why Cricket Protein is marketing a luxury item to an audience of lefty fart sniffers who is willing to pay the moral signalling tax for "Opposing Climate Change by eating like a bearded dragon in a pet store."

First they make your children eat bugs then they come for your guns.
Stay vigilant, TS do not let The Man win.

Insects are disgusting for a reason.

That reason isn't that it's God's way of telling us to eat them.

Invest in crickets the same way you do beef and chicken factory farms and then compare prices. That's not even taking in to consideration the effect on the environment, it's a lot easier to feed those bugs than it is the chickens.

It's not a conspiracy theory. We couldn't find enough bugs to make them the staple of our diet as hunter gatherers, we ate them when available though. Agriculture and domestication comes along and settled populations explode around these foods. Now we have factory farming and it's a huge strain on our environment, just from a purely ethical perspective it's awful. So now we've got studies finding the protein in bugs is a lot like fish in that it's healthier for us than our staple meats, and now we have large scale farming that could be applied to bugs and make them a viable staple protein. The science, technology, and understanding has grown and evolved like everything else in our diet.

You have to be a paranoid schizophrenic to call anything that has a positive news article about it propaganda.

John the Baptist ate locusts.

Mark 1:6
4 And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit.”

So either John the Baptist was an unholy man, or you are full of shit and trying to make up biblical reasons for you being a little bitch.

I've seen the "eat bugs" propaganda for a few years now. Was even heavier up until about a year ago; BBC was running stories about how great it is, saw articles on it, so you know it was getting "the push," and it was obvious.

So they gave the kids grasshoppers in school today; 6th grade. I didn't make a deal about it, because my son actually talked about wanting to try it. Well, he did today, and he thought it was terrible.

So anyways the social push for people to start eating insects has reached middle school.

Should I be mad they gave my kid a chile lime grasshopper today? Has everybody noticed this push over the last few years?

For those wondering what "a push" looks like:

Im not saying the teacher got direct orders from a shadowy government figure (come on) to make these kids eat bugs.. That's not really how it works. It does work through conditioning through "respected" "news" sources like bbc, or washpo.

I get where you are going with this, namely that the establishment is trying to condition us to eat insects so we wouldn't be eating massively green house causing livestock like cows. But I also think schools asking kids if they want to try insects is no big deal, because if schools never tried new things and just stuck to tradition, it would be dull and boring. Trying new things is not bad (depends on the thing ofcourse).

The globalists would love it if we all ate insects, that's another new push you'll increasingly start to see everywhere.

This is an odd thread topic.
No no it isn't..

Schools are trying to make men into soy boy emasculated wimps so the global government can rule us! Everyone knows eating beef makes you a barbarian and contributes to global warming, so we must transition to insects

I've been down to eat bugs since I was a kid. My dad and I grilled grasshoppers and crickets as an experiment and it wasn't bad at all. Ants are actually really good in my opinion, harvester ants in my experience, their acid gives them a unique kick like a natural spice. Mealworms were probably the best, the only one I had a real mental block with but objectively the best tasting.

Ate an earthworm on a dare as a kid too, my advice is don't chew. Also avoid slugs if you enjoy not being a vegetable.

Insects are disgusting for a reason.

That reason isn't that it's God's way of telling us to eat them.
But if you / your loved ones were on an island and starving, you would eat insects.

Lowered moral
Cheaper to feed the peasants
If it were to lower moral, why would they push us to embrace it and see them as a good thing to eat?

And when did cheaper alternatives become a bad thing? Are you against capitalism?

No, I would bring food with me.
You ran out of food, or didn't bring much since you never expected to be stranded on the island. And there is nothing else to eat on the island, and you suck ass at fishing.

You are left with eating some of your companions or eating insects . Choose !!

And when did cheaper alternatives become a bad thing? Are you against capitalism?

They want us to embrace it, so we will eat insects. Nobody wants to eat bugs over steaks.

No, I am not against Capitalism for pointing out the globalists would prefer the cheapest option to feed the peasants so they can hoard more money.
