I've had some great conversations with 2016 join dates, and I've seen some really dumb shit from really old accounts, and vice versa. Can't judge a book by its release date.

You can actually get away with a lot more now on here than you used to. It used to be very strict. Both ways (strict vs lax) have their pros and cons.
