There is no one for Izzy in September

Strickland talked a little about it and now even Izzy discussed it, basically they're both down.
The only thing that's holding it up is Strickland's pay, he wants a bump for taking this fight which he and Izzy have stated in separate videos.

Izzy said that he wants to fight on this card no matter what, but DDP is no longer an option for this date and Strickland wanting extra pay is making the UFC holding back.
Another thing, Izzy is not interested in a Cannonier rematch so that's a no go if they can't get Strickland.

IMO Strickland should take it. I'm all for fighter pay, that being said the UFC will move on and even shelve Izzy for the DDP fight in 2024 if they have to. That would probably turn UFC 293 into a FN card which they did earlier this year for UFC London once Leon came out and said he wouldn't be ready by then to defend his title.
Strickland's only getting this shot because of the current circumstances of it being only a few weeks away and the best option outside of DDP, if he's not taking this one then I doubt he's gonna get another chance anytime soon.

Stickland said he wanted a pay increase for this fight? I think he deserves it, but at the same time he should just take the fight.

That was hilarious, it's still my favorite press conference ever. Highly entertaining and all due to Strickland. He might be a retard but he has some zingers.

He does, I mean this fight is also on short notice for him and for the title.
Plus he'd basically be saving the card too considering that even if they demoted this to a FN level event what other fight could even headline that? KKF/Kape or Tai/Volkov, good fights but nothing outstanding as a headliner for their big return to Sydney.

Again tho, the UFC is willing to go there even if that means shelving one of their biggest stars since there's a way bigger fight in Izzy/DDP waiting to be made next year. If that happens well Strickland's chances of getting a title fight go down by a big margin, at least anytime soon.

Heaven forbid a fighter refuses a back to back to back trilogy with a fighter he’s already faced a total of four times.
 
If it's for the Aussie card they know a lot of us are fully expecting Izzy to fight.

They'll probably wait a bit closer to the date before saying he's not fighting at all. Enough people will have made travel and accommodation arrangements by that point and will be less likely to try for ticket refunds.
 
Izzy/Strickland will get made by Saturday. JDM probably gets booked too, Magny or Holland.

Strickland probably asked for $20,000 and a used Chevy cobalt so they’re not gonna make it - too expensive.

These clowns trip over quarters while they try to pinch pennies. They could sell a Strickland/Izzy match big time.

Izzy definitely belongs at MW, not LHW, but that never stopped him before. Jones, in his fight against Gane, looked like he'd still be able to cut to 205 pretty easily if he lost the fat in camp. Not that the UFC should even consider matching them up, but if they wanted to it could be done.

Maybe they are undercover lovers, and do the vids as their cover for their frequent liaisons.
 
Strickland wants more money that the ufc can easily give to him with their hundreds of millions in net profit but they won’t for some reason
