Ok, Nick Diaz has some kind of social disorder, it could explain a lot of problems he has with anything related to a fight that is not fighting (or even that).

But there could also be another thing: his usage of and maybe even addiction to smoking weed. Smoking weed itself can push people who have a tendency to paranoia over the edge... so that might explain a part of it.

Also, if we assume that Nick is addicted to weed (i don't know if that is true, but it is at least a realistic option) he might be extra tense and paranoid because he did NOT smoke weed.

I read he said: "I hope i pass the drugtest", basically saying he did smoke weed... so he probably stopped smoking it a few weeks ago hoping it would be enough to pass the test. People who are addicted to weed get very uncomfortable going cold Turkey, that in combination with a big fight, lots of media etc. could create the Diaz that wants to retire...

Then back in Stockton he is in his comfort zone, and the need to fight comes back to Nick. That seems to be the pattern here. I have smoked enough weed myself in the past and recognize a lot of Nick's behaviour, both smoking it and going cold turkey.

Dear moderater, i know this thread is kinda on the edge, but i think it is no secret Nick smokes weed, so hopefully we agree that this is not fighter bashing, and just a view on an apparent problem. I think Nick is an awesome fighter and i would personally miss him a lot if he retires.

As always, English is not my first language, so excuse me for any errors.

Edit: Someone cannot be physically addicted to weed, but mentally one can.

I find your theories intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

They say weed can help a lot of people but in some cases cause Schizophrenia, Nick Diaz is testament to that.

I think Nick is much better off smoking weed, as far as his social anxiety is concerned. He speaks (albeit not all that eloquently) at press conferences. Kind of rambles, but its better than being shut down. His being a highly functional train wreck of a human being is what makes him so much fun to follow.

Can barely answer questions at pressers, but has the diligence to train his ass off and, and discipline to adhere to strict dieting, etc.

Crazy.

I think Joe Rogan said it once and i agree: smoking weed makes it very difficult to start running or ride a bike, but once you do that it becomes a rollercoaster ride... i used to do all my cardio after smoking weed, it got me in the zone.

Only worked for monotone endurance sports by the way.. doing jiu jitsu it made me lose almost everytime i tried anything.

I just think he's immature and needs to grow up. If you seriously "get addicted" to weed that's just a joke

I actually think there's a whole lot less to Nick Diaz than people like to pretend there is.

Detoxing from weed isn't helping Nick to be any more friendly or sensible, but it's a lot more than that. Matt Riddle said he smokes an eighth (of an ounce) a day, and quit (or at least tried to, lol) for the fights, and never went emo and retired and said a bunch of crazy shit.

Come to think of it, I bet Matt Riddle pays his taxes and knows how to buy a house. Matt fuckin' Riddle.

He probably has more than one type of anxiety disorder. He might also have PTSD (I have it) from maybe some of the stuff he was talking about during the pre-fight presser.
gun in face, friends shot, ect.

you can not be addicted to weed

Not physically. But make no mistake, psychological dependency can happen like almost anything you enjoy doing on routine.

And it's also easily taken care of with a bit of self control.

I don't smoke anymore, but in my experience weed made me want to do more of whatever I was doing immediately after smoking it.

So if I smoked and sat on the couch for a couple minutes, I would want to just sit on the couch. If I smoked and immediately starting working out, I would want to keep working out.

Just my experience though.

The medical stuff he smokes is properly grown and as such he's less likely to get paronoid. Also, he has the prescription for ADHD meaning they'll put him on a indica dominant strain which incidentally combats paranoia, hyperactivity and other elevated moods.
