Twice. Twice per year. He defended 6 times in just over 3 years from winning the title. Going up in weight to fight for a new strap is not defending, and even if it were it doesn't bring his average up to 3x.

Izzy was coming out with fighting someone else right at the match, I don't think it had anything to do with Alex.

I did cheer for Alex in these fights as a fan of his kickboxing career but I have to say as someone who respects Izzy a lot(and there are definately a load of incel shitbag haters) I'm really disappointed that he looks to be trying to avoid a 3rd fight, this is his chance to really stake his claim as the MW GOAT above Anderson and he looks like he's trying to run with a win when he's 1-3 with a guy, thats not a good look if you have confidence in yourself.

It's weird in a way too because feel that if Adesanya's would have gotten the victory in their first MMA fight, it wouldn't have been praised nearly as much.

Most would have likely written Pereira off as a green MMA fighter.

I said that fight was Alex’s last fight at MW. Imo it’s better for his health to move up. Those massive cuts can’t be good for a person.

But that doesn’t mean that Izzy can just refuse to fight him. He had to at least offer Alex the fight. That is indeed bullshit. And not even remotely a good look for Izzy. I wouldn’t want to publicly support that clown.

I actually think he can do fairly well and even has a good chance of winning belt. Looking at top 15 theres literally only Jan and Ankalaev who might give him problems due to a grappling threat (but if its the plan to fastrack Alex, they will never match him up with them anyway). Its the easiest MMA division at the moment for an elite striker

Alex is only 7-2. He didn't really deserve the title shot to begin with. Izzy got the immediate rematch on the strength of him being a longtime champion. He "earned" that rematch so to speak. Alex really hasn't earned that immediate rematch.

Plus there are other contenders that deserve a title shot and we don't want to bog down the division with unnecessary rematches.

Izzy got a rematch when he was 0-1 with Alex in MMA and 0-3 overall, Alex is now 1-1 with Izzy and I do not think the rematch was at all like say GSP/Serra were one guy then dominated the other and told us how the fight would go, this is clearly still an interesting fight.

The reality is this fight should be happening and provided Alex is fit for it the reason it might not is because Izzy and the UFC want to avoid it, I'm sorry but thats the fucking truth and I think deep down everyone knows it.
