The fourth round is also where Manny Pacquiao found his best success against Floyd, and I believe this is why Conor thinks he can get it done inside four rounds.

Using the first three rounds to measure and gauge distance, Conor will employ his reach and footwork to back Floyd down. In the fourth, he does the same, but finds that extra step he needs to move inside and find Floy'd chin.

Just saying ...

The problem Connor doesn't have the cardio to go full distance. So he has to get the job done in the first four rounds what is difficult because this dude can run fast!

it would be amazing if you are right but i doubt it.
i think he should go for it for 4 rounds and if it doesn't work then once he is gassed he should throw a kick or go for a takedown

Theory - mods will eventually move this thread to the correct forum because it doesn't belong in the UFC discussion.

He should just start bouncing off the ropes and going for clotheslines

McGregor, whether he knows it or not, is using classic game theory to double down on his position. If he loses.... no one will really remember he said what he said. But if he wins, it HAS to be in the first 4 rounds. His speed and power will diminish past the 4th and the fight will become more and more tilted away from him. So his prediction needs to be early enough int he fight to the area in which he CAN have success. But he can't predict "first two rounds" which is more likely, because then he could be the winner but wrong with his prediction. Especially since the first round may be a feel-out and he'll be chasing Floyd.

I placed a bet on 4th round. #MysticMac

That's in MMA with wrestling and kicking and stuff. Wrestling takes a lot out of you. I think he will have better cardio when he's only boxing. Also, I'm sure his cardio jumped up immensely unless he's only training for 4 rounds...then...it's over for him if it doesn't end in 4 rounds.

The longer he's in there with Floyd the faster Mayweather figures him out on top of his suspect cardio. If Conor is serious about winning he's going to try and take him out early on, IE punchers chance. But in doing so that might open him up to getting Ko'd.

No.... no no no. Have you ever watched a wrestler box for more than 5 minutes? It's no knock on them.... it's just a different cardio. Boxing is a different world if you haven't trained your body to handle it over and over, just like anything else. I'm not saying he'll Dada/Kimbo the situation after 4, but he's definitely going to be the more tired fighter after 3 rounds.

Yea I agree different cardio. With that said, Conor is definitely more of a boxer than a wrestler. Remember boxing was actually his forte. He started boxing at age 12. He's going to be in better cardio shape than when he was in MMA for sure. But can he last 12 rounds? IDK..but then again 12x3 = 36 and 5x5 = 25. So not that big of a difference. Smaller rounds + more breaks. I sure hope he's training for 12 rounds and not no 4 round KO mumbo jumbo though.

My prediction is Conor loses but makes a shit load of money, which really was the game plan all along

My prediction is that a little time goes by after the fight, and people start asking themselves if it was worth the money they threw at it

He hasn't boxed since high school years. He wasn't the prodigy in the sport some pretended he was early on. The movement and power allocation is different and so the stress on the body is different. Going 6 rounds in MMA doesn't prepare you for 12 in boxing (or vice versa). Remember McGregor v Diaz 1? He threw some kicks but not a lot. He spent very little time on the ground. He was spent. Some of that was taking punches. Some of that was cardio.

Like I said, I don't think he'll be a windless goof out there.... but guys who have been boxing their whole lives get tired after 8 rounds. World class guys. Connor will be tired after 3-4. And I forget who I heard talking about it, but a boxer brought up that there is a mental fatigue that happens that you cannot help. Paraphrase: "You start to feel drained and then you look up and the ring girl is holding up Round 6, and you realize you're not even halfway there yet." That cannot be understated if Conor doesn't find his success early. If he's losing and he sees he might get pieced up for 8 more rounds.... he can affect him.

He's a rare mind that can usual avoid such concern. But again, we saw in the Diaz fight he CAN panic and make bad decisions.

So basically like most of the time when people buy stuff?

I strongly disagree, if mcgregor gets beat down everyone will remember what he said, especially after yesterday

When conor gets asked why he believes he will ko floyd in 4 rounds he says "because Floyds head is too little" thats a terrible gameplan, very similar to how diaz "gazelle frame" could never take his shots.
Mcgregors confidence goes out the window if floyd crowds a couple lefts and takes them without much issue
