The Younger generation have terrible work ethics.

If you reported to me, I would encourage you cultivate your empathy skills. Become the leader that they need.

I work in IT with a bunch of boomers who are all super lazy and entitled. Only one of them has any skills at all. The rest don’t know shit. They basically do data entry. They sleep at their desks, or they did when we weren’t working remotely. But of course, I still have to go into the office all the time. They never have to.

If there is a problem with any of their systems, all they do is call Microsoft and ask them what to do. Then they forward the instructions to my team so we can do it for them.

We had some young interns a while back. They were fucking awesome. One was a really hard worker. The other was not a super hard worker. But he was incredibly gifted, so he didn’t really need to work that hard.

Not just younger generation, a 52 year old temp recently never answered the phone and took her mask off when it was required at all times unless eating or drinking. Another receptionist in his 50s if he wants to chat about stuff just tells me to let the phone ring off and he does the same. He gets a pass though, he's a good guy. Another receptionist, we're supposed to log contact tracing for everyone who comes in. When I get to her office to take over mid morning she hasn't even logged into that system, and she's in her mid 30s...the other guy I'd say mid 50s.
People are just lazy.
I feel like there's alot of people just living life aimlessly, floating wherever the current takes them....People are pretty meh overall, usually takes external factors to drive people to do more than the bare minimum..

It’s easy to generalize, but the truth is that you have high performers in all age groups, and same with lazy halfwits. It’s not a generation thing, but it’s easy to pretend it is so based on a few examples.
So one of the offices I go to is a Goverment office and this is completely true. The older guys that fancy themselves "Old School" and talk about "Commies" are lazy and entitled as shit, and don't realize the hypocrisy of complaining about any form of Socialism while they are walking, talking examples of Socialism and its failures. The young people either leave or begin to slack and I get why, there's no incentive for them to work harder and older managers that don't want change and just want to get their retirement in order are always throwing up road blocks.

When first introduced to my last apprentice I put my hand out to shake his hand and he looked at me and said, and I quote:

"You're not one of those guys that like, takes the stairs, are you?"

Generalize much with three people?

We hear this from every old timer generation, so find some fresh ideas to complain.

The temp ended up being a complete see you next Tuesday and got fired from the temp agency. She needed the money too so she's a right twat for instigating some gnarly behaviour. Not a nice woman. But yeah, point being we all need work, her not playing by the rules while there are cameras everywhere wasn't just lazy but stupid.

Well technically it saves the knees

One thing I’ve found actually as I have gotten older is that self assurance and confidence really really help with getting work done.

The younger and less confident I was the more lazy I probably seemed to older folks because I was, I think, afraid of the work! Like I’m not sure, but when I look back on my history of work, it’s like, I had 15 hour days no problem if I felt like I knew the tasks, but if I was unsure and found a way to get out of doing the work, I would take it every time until I hit my late 20s. But like, not doing work vs trying and doing bad, both are embarrassing, but at least one way you learn/get something done.

Got older and started to understand how to truly laugh off mistakes: started just zoning out and doing stuff.

Young, old, it really doesn't matter. You haven't seen useless fucks until you work on a big industrial work site like the one I'm on. Protected by their union. The laborers here are making 100k+ a year*, and some of them are the laziest, least motivated fucks you've ever seen. Some have tough jobs, some are useless bags of skin.

Funnily enough the guys with the tough jobs are usually the hardest workers (concrete placers and finishers), while the guys with the easiest jobs (literally walk around all day with a magnet on a stick picking up nails, tie wire etc or cleaning the lunchroom and bathroom) are the laziest fuckers imaginable.

*They all get paid 34.85$/hr plus 10% in lieu of vacation/statutory holiday pay. So, 38.34$/hr. We work 14 days on, 10 hr days, with 7 days off. 7 hrs a day are straight time, 3 hrs a day are 1.5 time. We average 16.5 shifts per year @140 hrs per shift = 2310 hrs a year. 70% are at straight time (1617 hrs) = 61,995.78$ The remaining hours are 1.5 time (693 hrs) = 39,855.43$ for a total of 101,850.21$/year. Keep in mind these are minimum hours worked, and it's usually more due to concrete pour schedules.
What type of work is this?

um if my so called generation is lazy, then wouldn't that be placing the blame on said generation that came beforehand? Since ya know, the generation that came before hand is the one who taught the current generation, so if the current generation is failing in a specific area it would be due to the previous generation's failings in that regard.

so thanks you lazy boomer.

Yes, young people are lazy. Of course there are exceptions, but as a group they are lazier than Gen X. But Gen X as a group is lazier than Boomers, and Boomers are lazier than the greatest generation, who were undoubtedly lazier than their predecessors.

This current crop of Millenials and Zoomers though are a result of poor parenting. They're too spoiled and sheltered. They were never allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. This is the generation where if the kid gets an F in school, the parents yell at the teacher instead of the kid. Accountability is out of fashion.

This is mostly an American thing though. This is why India and China are going to continue to steal our jobs, because we're simply too lazy and ill-equipped to do them well.

Yeah they take our jobs and then robots take their jobs and next thing you know we’re in the Matrix

Wrong! The blame would go on the generation even before that, because they raised people who weren't fit parents.

Check mate.
