So I'm in IT and I am in charge of hiring for the company. We recently hired quite a few people to the department. After a few months, the only two retards that are under the age of 27 are on thin ice with the boss already. We're all currently teleworking so I guess according to these two kids, that means nobody is watching them or paying attention to whether or not they are working. We are required to come in once a week for specific tasks, but they have not come into work when asked because they assumed it was optional. Oh, and they also have sleep in. Neither seem to be getting the job aspects either as they ask 50 questions a day. Have these mother fuckers ever touched a computer before? They clearly lied about their skills when interviewing them. They are a fucking nuisance and ironically, they both are the youngest on the team.

TLDR; younger generation are whiny pussies and have shitty work ethics. You guys are screwed and it's not because of the generations before you. It because you guy are fucking lazy.

Not just younger generation, a 52 year old temp recently never answered the phone and took her mask off when it was required at all times unless eating or drinking. Another receptionist in his 50s if he wants to chat about stuff just tells me to let the phone ring off and he does the same. He gets a pass though, he's a good guy. Another receptionist, we're supposed to log contact tracing for everyone who comes in. When I get to her office to take over mid morning she hasn't even logged into that system, and she's in her mid 30s...the other guy I'd say mid 50s.
People are just lazy.
 
I dunno I think it's hard to make generalizations. Seen plenty of really hard workers under thirty and plenty lazy in the same age range.

From my friends who work in tech now the impression I get is that it's kind of the wild west right now. Take a segment that's starving for workers, paying well, few people understand, and there are few formal requirements, and it's understandable that you're going to see a lot of shitbirds.

The elephant in the room is if you're in charge of hiring how did they get past the technical part of the interview? Is this an entry level gig?

It's true, in September we hired someone I knew from back when I used to be a bouncer. He's in his late 20's now and was desperate for a job so my boss hired him. I laid him off yesterday and found out about all the issues. Missed work multiple times, told his trainer fuck you and flipped him off, never took notes and had to be told what to do over and over. I don't get it, I've taken every job I've ever had seriously.
 
At least 1/2 of people in IT are completely incompetent.
I'm saying this from 20+ years experience, and from working in the software, insurance, and entertainment industries doing IT work.
And this also applies to all age ranges. Had a contractor around a year ago with supposedly 10+ years of experience. I've worked with kids straight out of school who had more technical skills and savvy than that idiot. He quit before we could fire him, but he knew the writing was on the wall and he knew i did not like him at all.

Young, old, it really doesn't matter. You haven't seen useless fucks until you work on a big industrial work site like the one I'm on. Protected by their union. The laborers here are making 100k+ a year*, and some of them are the laziest, least motivated fucks you've ever seen. Some have tough jobs, some are useless bags of skin.

Funnily enough the guys with the tough jobs are usually the hardest workers (concrete placers and finishers), while the guys with the easiest jobs (literally walk around all day with a magnet on a stick picking up nails, tie wire etc or cleaning the lunchroom and bathroom) are the laziest fuckers imaginable.

*They all get paid 34.85$/hr plus 10% in lieu of vacation/statutory holiday pay. So, 38.34$/hr. We work 14 days on, 10 hr days, with 7 days off. 7 hrs a day are straight time, 3 hrs a day are 1.5 time. We average 16.5 shifts per year @140 hrs per shift = 2310 hrs a year. 70% are at straight time (1617 hrs) = 61,995.78$ The remaining hours are 1.5 time (693 hrs) = 39,855.43$ for a total of 101,850.21$/year. Keep in mind these are minimum hours worked, and it's usually more due to concrete pour schedules.

Every generation has lazy people. You’re gonna tell me nobody took naps in the 50s? With the amount of whiskey they were drinking at work?
 
I think overall they are more useless because of technology and so forth.

Having said that, a small group of younger people are even more hard working/dedicated than people from previous generations. That's because the ambitious ones know they have to study harder to compete for less space.

For instance, decades ago it was easier to get into any college. People planned for college in their junior or senior year. Now there are kids who plan for college in middle school and they have to do all sorts of internships during the summer to boost their resumes.

That's the reality for a lot of jobs now. Before you could graduate from college and then look for a job. Now you need a lot of stuff on your resume if you want a good job.

I've said this before on here but in my experience hiring Millennials, the best workers came from either blue color or immigrant households. The entitled little shits came from middle class, American parents.
