The War Room Bet Thread V3

#31. @waiguoren v. @andnowweknow
1. Roger Stone will be indicted and convicted on at least one charge brought by Robert Mueller's team for Trump/Russia coordination/collusion/conspiracy.
2. andnowweknow- for, waiguoren- against
3. At the conclusion of Stone's trial, if it happens. If not, at the end of the Mueller investigation.
4. Sig bet
5. 10 months
6. The conviction needs to be for coordination/collusion/conspiracy between Trump/Russia. For example: treason, conspiracy to defraud the USA, or conspiracy to commit an offense against the USA by coordinating with the Russian state would all give the win to andnowweknow. Tax fraud as in the Manafort case would not count. Perjury would not count. If Stone signs a plea agreement for any reason, the bet is a push.

This one is settled. Mueller did not issue any more indictments. Stone's indictments were not for coordination/collusion/conspiracy between Trump/Russia.
Given the amount of spin off work sent to unknown other jurisdictions (all the result of Mueller's team's work), it would be premature to call the bet, and we still have not seen the full Mueller report most importantly. Barr's press release isn't the Mueller report...not even a sentence from it in fact.

Read the bet. Mueller's team must bring the charges. Spinoffs are clearly excluded.

People just need to stop making bets with him lol
He stipulated that if their was plea bargain that would negate his loss in case he did. It basically rigged the bet so it wasn't really a bet...

Ok, what are you saying? You signed off on the bet, right? You're saying I wrote it to trick you? We had as much time as we needed to build in stipulations.
I don't need any stipulations, as far as I'm concerned Mueller's investigations were spun off and continue. It's the work of the Special Counsel continuing elsewhere.

That's nonsense. My contention is that Stone would not be convicted for conspiracy/collusion/coordination with the Russian government. If Stone were to sign a plea bargain, pleading down to some other offense, then obviously we wouldn't be able to settle our disagreement.

That's a creative interpretation, but the terms of the bet couldn't be clearer. The Mueller Team had to bring the charges for conspiracy/collusion against Stone. The Mueller Team, through DOJ, has already announced they will be bringing no more indictments. The bet is therefore settled.

I'll be happy to revisit this once we see the Mueller report. The Trump administration's description of it doesn't really work.

Wait, so you are actually saying that there is a chance that Mueller's report contains further indictments (of Roger Stone, specifically) and that the DOJ is hiding this fact from the public?

I've been pretty clear so far. If I'm convinced Mueller's investigations and the spin offs aren't going to further the need to keep this open after reading the Mueller report, I'll be happy to acquiesce. I'm certainly not convinced by a politically doctored White House press release written by Bill Barr.

Do you understand that you signed off on a bet whose terms referenced only the Mueller team? Not the SDNY, not the EDNY, but the Mueller team.

So using your logic the bet will never end. A 3rd party might charge Stone 5 years from now

He's got you on the terms of the bet (though your calling it premature is reasonable). But lesson learned, you've just been a victim of 'angle shooting.'
