That’s probably what Jon wants. He can juice in PFL, so he would look unbeatable again and get a cool million every year. Then could build some intrigue to get him back in the ufc at HW. But the UFC would never cut him, just to fuck him over. They are probably offering him Frank Ngannou every 3 months and that’s it until he officially retires.

If what we have heard is correct Jones makes 5-10 million per fight.

He doesn't want to leave the UFC, he wants to have public tantrums and try to play the victim card to get ridiculous paydays that he isn't worth.

And there is a way out of the contract for Jones. He just has to keep escalating the stupid shit he does outside the cage until the UFC simply can't keep him.

with all due respect, cutting jones would really be stupid for the company. he's widely regarded as THE goat. and if not THE, then at least one of them. he's too important to the company in that way. if his record was less, then he woulda been cut already. his ppv is actually pretty decent, plus, no matter your opinion on him, his return will most definitely be popular and widely promoted

Jones is the most overrated fighter on the roster imo. He lost to Reyes and Santos. He was on steroids for his entire career. He hasn't looked good in a while, he hasn't fought in a while and he continues to get older. He doesn't have the power or the style for heavyweight. The sport has passed him by.

i'm no jones fan, and i agree he's a nightmare to deal with, don't get me wrong there. but really because of his status and power within the ranks, i think it would be even more of an issue to deal with coming from ufc fans in general.

There is an in-between. In fact that in between is what UFC relies on to bring in most of their business.

Look at the current state of the UFC. Conor barely fights. The UFC is relying on Adesanya, Ngannou, and Usman to carry the company. Adding Jon Jones to that rotation is HUGE for the company

I kind of think 500k buys is kind of the cut off line as to whether you’re a draw or not. Unless the ESPN deal has changed, they pay the UFC the equivalent of 500k buys per PPV event. All buys above 500k, the majority of that money goes directly to ESPN with the UFC only getting an undisclosed cut. No I don’t think they should cut Jones, but he’s not making ESPN a ton of money with those numbers. He has had way higher numbers in the past and I think he’s capable of generating that again at HW with several opponents. I think he might have been a victim of his own success at LHW.

You could tell even he was surprised to get the Reyes decision. If he stays champ after Reyes, he knows his days as an unbeatable champ are numbered.
