The UFC knew not to go against Fury/Ngannou

Does Saudi Arabia care if it bombs? I'm not hearing much buzz about it.

The Sherdog official Logan Paul/Danis fight thread had almost twice as many pages as the Fury/Ngannou thread has at the same time.
The Saudis have bottomless pockets.

Boxing fans like ourselves hate it and won't buy it. That leaves MMA fans (maybe), and casuals (again, maybe, Francis is a nobody to them).

I hope it bombs, so they knock this shit off once and for all.
I can’t see it doing well. Boxing fans hate it, it’s in the middle of a the day, 80 bucks, and even the people claiming Francis can win don’t believe it. Does anybody think if Francis last 4 rds, he doesn’t look like kimbo/dadda?

I'm certain the only thing motivating ESPN and UFC was straight fear of embarrassment, knowing how well this fight is going to draw.

Dana White will be hiding in a closet during this fight, wondering what went wrong.

I can't imagine any other scenario.

Yeah I didn't get everyone thinking Francis fumbled. He realistically had about a 30 percent chance against Jones.. and that would of crushed his earnings afterwards. It's illogical, people can accuse him of not chasing greatness.. but he made a great career move. Unless he goes out major cold In about 5 mins

True, but Dana could have put on an Apex show on a month's notice, maybe have a couple of recognizable names fight at catchweight in the main/co-main. Not that it would be a good idea, just saying that's sort of what he did with Anderson main eventing at LHW against Janes Irwin to counterprogram Affliction IIRC.

You're right they used to do that all teh time, and I remember Bellator used to do events on Wed. & teh UFC would throw a card together on a week or 2 notice & have an event on Wed. That all ended when teh monopoly law suits started. Now they NEED competition or else they will be in court.
