The UFC keeps doing Burns dirty

Did the UFC do Burns dirty?

There is ZERO argument for Burns getting a TS ahead of Belal.

So is the UFC doing Burns dirty by giving him a number 1 contender fight? That is a ridiculous thought.

Belal was the guy getting fucked over. Love the activity by Burns. But it bit him in the ass 100% in this fight, imo. And he’s the only person responsible for that. I have zero problems with Burns. But you can’t win them all.

I believe we will definately see him again and soonish. Probably in september october.

He'll probably fight geoff neal
Depends how his injury is, look at Jiri. Neal would be a good matchup for his return though.

I'm Brazilian, but he chose to fight, he really meant it because he was trying to get a last title shot. So, at least this time, there has nothing to do with UFC. I have nothing but respect for Durinho. Belal won fair and straight and also deserves respect (although he doesn't entertain).

Plenty of fighters have gone on record stating that you can't really say 'No' to the UFC without facing consequences

Kinda the norm in dealing with narcissistic figures, like Dana. Dude holds serious grudges

This doesn't get talked about enough.

Yup

People seriously believe that it is on Burns for making the decision, or that Burns could have said no to the UFC when they called.

Machida got thrown under the bus for wanting more money to fight Jones on short notice after the UFC 151 fiasco (Anderson Silva Money)

Hell, Jones got thrown under the bus for saying no to Chael Sonnen on 1 week notice after Hendo pulled out. Dana blamed the entire cancelation on Jones.

Dana threw Anderson under the bus multiple times.

Dana has thrown GSP under the bus for not getting what he wants.

Dana banned Randy Couture from the UFC, wouldn't even let him corner his son Ryan.

Dana fired Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes after promising them life long jobs in the UFC... (Liddell would have to fight because he was broke, and Hughes stopped his car on train tracks).

So... If Dana has done this to his top fighters of all time... you better bet that there are going to be consequences if you don't give him what he wants.

It seems to me that Gilbert actually came out ahead in this situation. Despite losing to Belal, he likely received a decent paycheck for agreeing to fight on such short notice, and his career shouldn't suffer too much from the loss. Gilbert should take a break and return later in the year, he only needs one more win to put himself back in contention for a title shot.

Bro was given a paycheck for fighting a guy who was incapable of pulling the trigger, even when he was one-armed and looking all sad and shit. I don’t see how he was done dirty, pretty much the opposite. Easy money for Burns, he’ll be back eventually.

Burns was the one that called the UFC and told them he would like to fight on this card. He said he wanted to solidify his Number One contender status. UFC then obliged with the request and booked Belal vs. Burns. Cannot say the UFC did him dirty, when Burns was lobbying to be on this card after Beneil vs. Oliveira got pushed back.

This is Burns 3rd fight in 2023, and we're only at MAY!

Burns 4th fight since April 2022, which was against Khamzat.
The UFC threw him in there as a sacrificial lamb. Burns made the most outta it.

Now, after solid wins against Magny and Masvidal, Burns is finally a household name and the UFC chooses to throw him in there with a short notice fight, just about 30 days after his most recent fight.

Just cutting weight twice in 30 days is crazy, let alone fighting 2 top UFC guys along with it in those 30 days.

I'm not surprised that Burns is injured in there. There's only so much that the human body can accomplish, especially under USADA.

Now instead of taking his fan-favorite stardom into a UFC championship fight, Burns is getting booed by the crowd (for being unable to perform injured), and gets beat by Belal Muhammad.

I guess Belal fighting for the title in Abu Dhabi means more money for the UFC
I feel bad for Burns but he wasn’t treated badly by the UFC.
Unfortunately, He redlined when pushed himself too hard.

He chose to to take the fight and chose to fail. That was heavy duty sparring

Did Burns really "choose" to hurt his shoulder on a takedown attempt sir?
I'm gonna go with, probably not.

He couldn't even hold on to Belal's leg when he caught a kick.
He was hurting, shit happens in a fight.

Korean Zombie's shoulder vs Aldo, Ortega vs Yair etc.
Difference being Gilbert fought all 5 rds.

Burns had no business being in his 2nd fight in 30 days.

How is it even safe to cut weight twice in 30 days? let alone fight 2 top ranked guys in 30 days

God knows how he was medically cleared to fight again so soon. Probably because it was in New Jersey. Wouldn't have happened in Vegas, or New York

Ok if he actually called for this fight that’s pretty silly. I hope burns can rebound. Still a dangerous fighter. Sometimes you can just have off nights.
