I know it's been a joke since forever but this interim "championship" fight did it for me. Call it the straw that broke the camel's back.

We don't get Ngannou-Jones because the UFC is too cheap to pay them like real professional athletes.

We don't get get Ngannou-Lewis because the UFC wants to control when the champ fights. How often do new champs defend just three months after winning?

MMA is not a real sport. It's sports entertainment and I don't mean that in a good way.

MMA is a sport as real as any.

What you're trying to say is that their rankings/championships are meaningless compared to other sports. Which, yes, has more merit than it used to.

Jones signed a contract that he isn't willing to fulfill. Thats the UFC's fault? ok bud whatever you say.

You forgot to put breaking at the beginning of the thread..

Sorry but no one is paying Jones 30 mil to show. He priced himself out so he wouldn’t look like he ducked, he really doesn’t want that fight.

Just because Dana & Co. manipulate the rankings and want favourable champs that they can push around doesn't make the sport ant less legit.
Is just Dana is a asshole and the UFC wants fighters to fight cheap.

How did we go from Ngannou vs Jones to Ngannou vs Lewis to this garbage? Whoever booked this needs to be fired ASAP.

No it's clearly not a legitimate sport and never ever will be, facts are facts, sorry to burst your bubble ....

Fixed matchmaking isnt a part of legitimate sports. You don't see nhl picking and choosing who fights for the cup every year
.. its whoever rightfully deserves it as an example to the rule of thumb.

The UFC just setup an interim belt when the Champ fought 3 months ago, and was ready to take a fight in September.

But I’m sure it’s got nothing to do with how he asked for more money publicly. The UFC would never be vindictive like that…

Yeah what a "joke"....

Francis is still scared of BB and tried to duck him.

GOOD, punish the duckers......

FIGHT OR VACATE.

Is boxing a legitimate sport??

Do they normally strip fighters who go 5 months in between title fights or just the ones who ask for more pay? I think you know the answer.

I agree it is still early but it is enough time to have a turn around and still have a little bit of a break. 3 months would be like going from camp to camp.

It comes down to if Francis was really going to be ready in September. It doesn't sound like hes ever been to excited about fighting Lewis.

Clearly this was motivated by his comments about fighter pay. Just like I’ve been trying to tell everyone Dana’s bit of “If Jones really wants to fight” was a load of horse shit, but everyone hates Jon so much they refused to see it. Like why would you allow a guy who’s never fought tell you a guy who’s fought 27 times is afraid? Are MMA fans really that stupid? How many times do we have to see a fighter get railroaded for speaking out about pay before you see it?

And you found this out today?

the UFC is a joke since Endeavor bought it and the shit interim titles. Why just don't make No.1 contender??

UFC are addicted to doing the interim belt thing. We know the silly reasoning behind it. Ngannou/Jones would be happening if they were both offered 10 million to do it but that's not enough for Jones because he's scared of Francis. Francis would fight him for half of that. Jones is pricing himself out on purpose. I'm not saying Dana and the UFC are not to blame either. They are embarrassingly cheap. They've always looked like a second rate product that tries too hard.

Sport - "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."

MMA features two skilled athletes competing in a physical contest with an undetermined winner. It is a sport by the literal definition of sport. MMA also encompasses more than the UFC.

Yes, matchmaking is sub-optimal and definitely not the UFC at its best. But that's a separate issue. And comparing MMA to an org like the NHL doesn't make sense, because they inherently operate differently. Boxing is the best comparison here. Or what Glory's doing in kickboxing. And weird matchmaking happens there too.

That's the nature of individual, contracted sports, with tons of parties and such. The UFC just has a monopolistic grip on the sport right now, so they can inject themselves like this more. And it's noticed, hence the entire lawsuit against the UFC about their business practices.

All you're really doing is taking the credit away from the fighters who entertain you. Just because you haven't chance to bitch about it yet, doesn't make this an already overdone topic.
