I remember back in the day where interim belts was not only looked down upon, but mocked as a complete joke. Now we actually have fans suggesting it after a champ who just fought 2 months ago was injured lol

I am at the point where I don't care about the belts. Having a belt is just hype in the first place, and the older I get, the less I care about hype. I just want to see good exciting shit. It's not the interim belts that piss me off, it's all the fight cancellations.

Interim belts are meaningless. Alot like most UFC belts nowadays. I can't wait to see the first interim interim belt.

Newbie fans don't give a shit about them but anyone I know who has watched the sport for longer than a few years acknowledges that they are holding up divisions and are generally stupid.

How about the UFC gives EVERY fighter an interim belt. Then every fighter on the roster is interim champion and when they lose they lose their belt to the guy who won, that way fighters can enter like boxers do with 7 belts carried behind them. WME can market them as multiple champions.


We are only seeing the beginning of ridiculous shit

I agree but they helped us get to this mental mind state. People didn't think it in the past because the championship belts used to be more fairly earned and defended.

Now it feels like a tool used to fish for money fights or something they throw a fake belt on in order to justify the price tag. As if the fight we are viewing suddenly improved because they added a belt to it.
