Sam Caplan (former Bellator MMA Vice President of Talent Relations) took part of a podcast on "The MMA Insiders Podcast"

http://themmareport.com/2014/09/the-mma-insiders-podcast-episode-3/

the podcast is large (over 70 minutes) and he treats several topics, include the Attila "issue". Wheter you want to hear it, to skip over the first 30 minutes....wheter you dont want to hear it i summarize it for you

While ago Attila emailed Bellator saying he was injured and he cant fight, but his condition wont change until he could renegotiate his contract because he receive a slow salary, the Bellator people decided not to accept the "request" (or blackmail wheter you want to call it of that way) and they fired him...that in a nutshell, wheter you want the long story, hear the podcast :icon_chee

That's interesting it seemed like Bellator just screwed him over originally. There are two sides to every story.

So he wanted to do a Nate Diaz and Bellator just figured release him.

Needless to say Nate would likely be in Bellator himself if he wasn't one of the most popular names at LW in the UFC.

Shame to see him pissing away his career like this though, hasn't fought in almost a year and does not appear to be doing so any time soon.

Interesting. Bellator may well have been in the right really

Still, he was champion, and I'm sure he wasn't getting even 50,000 to fight

One of the main reasons I support Bellator is because they offer more jobs to more fighters...

That said, I seriously hope they dont get into the business of cutting people hoping to renegotiate their contract... Vegh was infact recently screwed over with a lack of activity, so they owe him a negotiation imo... That said, Vegh wasnt exactly exciting so wouldnt have commanded a higher purse, but certainly sit down with him and give him some sort of activity clause or fights with M-1...

I would be more excited to see Vegh v top 15 UFC than most of the 205 fights they have coming up. I hope he gets the call.

Still should never had been released with the record and fights he's had with Bellator. Bellator just made a horrible decision letting him go and they realize that now. Bellator has plenty of fighters with losing records still on the payroll that should've been released instead.

Funny how there's little to no fuss about this, but when UFC cut Jon Fitch or Yushin Okami (guys who have never held a title, and were coming off consecutive losses), it was a travesty...

Mainly because Bellator is a B league promotion and Vegh can make just as much money anywhere. Even UFC could possibly pick him up though unlikely. That being said people were definitely upset about the cut considering he was one of their better fighters.

God forbid Bellator wasn't the evil-doer, glad the story got spawned out (if its true)

Pretty much, we've seen if an org UFC/Bellator etc feel they dont need you and you dont help the competition they will drop you.

Vegh wasnt exciting, wasnt their champ anymore and doesnt have a style or a name that would make him valuable to the UFC.

Diaz, Eddie, especially Diaz is completely different since he is a name and would be huge for Bellator to get on Spike. He's a name, a top ranked LW and a ratings producer.

If this is legit, I have to wonder what kind of Kool-Aid Vegh was drinking to think that he wasn't disposable to Bellator.

Maybe it was a double reverse bluff to get cut on purpose.
