Ok, this list was actually very hard to make. I had to go through many different sources.
The Top 10 Selling PPVs Since 2018 Across Sports:
- Khabib vs McGregor: 2.5 million buys (MMA)
- Mike Tyson vs RJJ/ Jake Paul vs Nate Robinson: 1.6 million buys (Boxing)
- Logan Paul vs KSI: 1.3 million buys (Boxing)
- Canelo vs Golovkin II: 1.1 million buys (Boxing)
- McGregor vs Cerrone: 1.0 million buys (MMA)
- Fury vs Wilder II: 1.2 million buys (Boxing)
- Fury vs Wilder I: 875,000 buys (Boxing)
- Jones vs Gus II: 700,000 buys (MMA)
- Adesanya vs Costa: 700,000 buys (MMA)
- Ferguson vs Gaethje: 700,000 buys (MMA)
Methodology:
- The MMA numbers were easy to find. That only took a few minutes.
- The boxing numbers were really hard to find, and I spent a lot of time trying to find them. I don't think I got them all.
- I added Jake Paul and Nate Robinson as part the headline on Mike Tyson vs RJJ because they got paid with PPV points.
Analysis:
- It looks like boxing is less consistent. However, when it sells, it sells big.
- MMA is much more consistent. Lots of guys can sell decently under the UFC brand name.
- Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather is probably going to sell more PPVs than anything the UFC has ever put on, considering that Conor vs Floyd did 4.5 million buys.
- WrestleMania 34 and WrestleMania 35 SHOULD be on here, but they switched to the WWE Network. They easily should have the 500,000 + numbers, and probably 1 million + numbers.
