Alien was the more important and influential film, but The Thing was the superior film, IMO. One of the all-time great endings, too.

Voted Alien but I love both.
I enjoyed The Thing prequel as well. They did a good job considering how good the original is and how crappy most prequels are.

Easy, voted for The Thing. While I think Alien is a great film I usually pick the movie with more replay value. For me that's Thing.

If it was a Aliens-Thing poll I very well may change that pick, but that would make me think about it first.

Alien for overall production values, Sigourney Weaver's acting and overall atmosphere and pacing.

I enjoyed the Thing, though I probably wouldn't watch it again. The acting was not very good.

Ditto on first part. But Alien FTW. That and Aliens are two if the greatest movies ever made.
