Nice. I've been saying we need this thread for a while now and it certainly looks like it's serving it's purpose. For the angry alt-Leftists here, this thread is to merge the flow of repetitive threads that serve no other purpose other than TDS venting. Will mods use it correctly? I hope so, but it doesn't look that way.

How do we know it's that divided? It may seem that way, but only because the rabid left is more vocal, and tends to get the most air time in the MSM.
 
There is nothing Trump could ever say or do, that wouldn’t be mocked, and criticized by the left. Every single thing he says or does is proof of what an idiot his haters think he is. The reason people on the left have no credibility when criticizing Trump is because it’s so obvious they’re seething with TDS. Most of the media is a 24-hour circus whose sole purpose is to whip the left up into more of a frenzy than they already are in. I love watching the left cry and scream all day long about what Trump did. They are completely obsessed with him. He’s the center of their universe.

Well, the election of 2016 was very split, with Trump not getting the majority of votes. Do you think things have changed substantially since then? He’s a pretty polarizing figure, I think it’s pretty clear that the country is divided.

I can’t even believe I’m going to respond to this steaming pile of a post. Right wing media outlets don’t “whip you up into a frenzy”? Right wingers didn’t do the same thing with Obama, day after day? And btw, Trump is the president, we’re supposed to watch what he does daily and care about it.

I believe he definitely has more people on his side after these first 3.5 years. The Left has shot itself in the foot over and over with their extreme ideologies. The Right, for the most part, aren't as vocal as the left. You'll rarely see some multi-colored-hair conservative trying their hardest to get some airtime, reeing and screaming.

Not even remotely close to this degree, and I think you know that. Same goes for Bush Jr too.

That said, it's more due to the evolution of social media, I'd say. You see it more, because everyone's face is glued to a screen, and they all have a voice on this screen. I think all these outlets like Twitter, Facebook etc, have given everyone a false sense of importance. They're all gonna change the world!

This is the new normal though. The next Pres ain't gonna have it any easier.

Good points, but I look at my FB wall, and this forum. It's pretty wild the shit that some people say, especially my colleagues on FB.

For example, "IF YOU DEFEND TRUMP YOU'RE NOT MY FRIEND , WE WERE NEVER FRIENDS!! UNFRIEND ME ALREADY!!"

Good post. I think we agree on one point, but disagree on another.
I think Obama was treated as badly as Trump, if not worse. The obstruction in Congress was really unprecedented. We’re talking about as many filibusters on judicial/executive appointees in his presidency as we’d had in our country’s entire history up to that point. Nothing like that had occurred before.
Bush had it better than Obama or Trump. But I’d argue Trump deserves to have it worse, as he’s far worse a President than Bush, and that’s really saying something.

I agree that social media plays a big role. Obama was praised for being cutting edge in ‘08, simply using it to get his message out. Nowadays, social media is used to alter video, and create totally fake content. Additionally, it’s so personalized that people live in a bubble of their own design, and never get opposing points of view. Personally I’ve never had a Facebook, Twitter, snap, or IG. I seek out a variety of news sources.
