As of right now, the major broadcast channels (FOX, NBC, ABC, and CBS) still score higher ratings than anything else because they are ore accessible. If these shows were really good, they would be getting much more in advertising revenue from putting them on legacy CBS than they would from charging on a streaming service.
CBS wouldn't be spending the kind of money they have on DSC, and now at least 4 more upcoming Trek shows if they weren't making money from it. I know you don't care for DSC, but they ratings have been pretty good, and has driven subscriptions to all access, even faster than they expected. DSC has also been found to be extremely popular internationally.

The old network system is dying. Having to rely on antiquated ratings systems like Nielsen boxes or books is decades old technology. I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a show on traditional TV that wasn't either a live sport, recorded on my dvr, or on demand.

Think back to Enterprise. It was on a dying network, that got a new Ceo every year, and shifted its focus to try and follow trends and advertisers. Enterprise actually had fairly stable ratings, was upn most popular show by far, and usually won its time slot. But by the network trying to appease advertisers, they wanted ENT to do things like, feature a new boy band each week on the show, because that was ad people said would raise the young female market. Guess what, there is little to know young female market for trek, but that's what the network systems does, tries to appease many masters, and often the core fan base losses.

More spy shots from Picard are leaking. Looks to be possibly star fleet academy or federation headquarters.

Aparrently in the scene, Picard is talking to a young officer at a desk, and asks Picard who he is.

Also looks like they are using voyager era uniforms, so maybe it's a flashback, or that's what cadets are wearing

This just gave me goosebumps a bit

Star trek online does follow the events of countdown as well. I did like in St online, the story of the Romulans, where they were divided into a pro federation /unification group, and aeperate militant star empire group

You might end up being right one day, but as of right now television shows on legacy networks still get the highest ratings and draw the most money from advertising revenue. Live television is available through Hulu, You Tube, Direct TV Now, and a few other streaming services, and neilsen does track viewership on those services. There will probably always be a need for live television because there will always be a need for live media (e.g., the news).

I agree there will always be a need for live TV. I still subscribe to cable, because it's still the best source for live news and sports. I do feel scripted TV though is definitely shifting towards on demand format.

It will really be Intresting to see what Disney does. They now have control of ABC, Fox, ESPN, Nat Geo, Disney, and Hulu. Both disney+ and espn+ are great values at $6 a month. How long before they are going to offer, all there networks together. They could really compete with cable when that happens.

I ditched cable for a live streaming service. Streaming was about half as expensive as cable. I pretty much get the same channels. The only big drawback was that Paramount network is not available, so no Bellator unless I pay for that crappy DAZN app.

These new uniforms look they they have aspects of the count down era ubforsm, and star fleet academy uniforms.

Here's a video which shows a short clip from the recent CBS upfront events. Also get a better view of the new uniforms, which really look like a combination of the countdown and st online uniforms, which matches up time wise

The Starfleet uniform from Star Trek: Picard

Design Notes
Division colored shoulder/yoke
High collar
Mock turtleneck, possibly with a subtle texture
Rank pips have been moved from collar to right breast (similar to uniforms seen in Star Trek Online and from the 2009 “Countdown to Star Trek”, movie tie-in comic book)
Combadge is larger than its TNG-era counterpart. The little bit we can see in the CBS Upfront image suggests an open framed delta similar to the “All Good Things…” combadge. The rotated oval is a homage to the combadges of TNG and the promotional delta imagery used to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Trek in 1996.
While it would be odd to have a split delta AND split background, it does seem that Starfleet’s “bifurcated delta” as established in Star Trek: Discovery is, for the time being, the delta of choice. This is supported by a closer look at the Starfleet Headquarters banners that have been seen in the recent pictures from the location shoot for Star Trek: Picard.
The uniform consists of 3 pieces: undershirt, pants, and a zippered uniform tunic/jacket.
The pants appear fairly similar to the TNG-era uniforms: full-length pants covering all but the heel, with a subtle triangular-cut opening for the top of the foot and toe.
This uniform feels oddly plain, considering it’s from a modern, 2019 show. It lacks the detail most contemporary genre shows heap onto their costumes—the result of using super high-resolution cameras, and larger-than-ever home theaters. That perhaps indicates that this is not the final iteration of Starfleet uniform that will be seen in the full series. This could be an early mock-up of the uniforms used for a brief clip specifically filmed for CBS All Access’ UpFronts for advertisers. Similar footage was made and used for the same purpose for Star Trek: Discovery in 2017. It could also indicate that this series will be something quite different from all earlier Star Trek series, one that won’t feature Starfleet or its uniformed personnel as heavily in the past
Design Influences
This new Starfleet uniform has a lot of influences from the 24th (and early 25th) century; it’s a bit of a mashup of designs we’ve seen before.

The Next Generation
Perhaps the most obvious influence is the Next Generation season 3 uniform with its trademark Mandarin-style collar, which makes a return in Picard. Also, this new uniform is a two-piece design, like the TNG uniform.

Countdown
The collar in the Picard uniform is higher and has a deeper V-neck than the TNG uniform, somewhat resembling the collars seen in the semi-official Countdown graphic novel prequel to Star Trek (2009), which shows the Prime universe events that led to the destruction of Romulus in 2387. The Picard design also borrows the similar positions of the rank pips—on the right breast, rather than on the collar.

Deep Space Nine/Voyager
Perhaps the second most recognizable design influence is that the division color is on the shoulders while the rest of the uniform is black, a lot like the more utility-focused jumpsuits seen on Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

Star Trek Online
Lastly, there’s a bit of the enlisted uniform from Star Trek Online as well, especially in the neck area, with the idea of an undershirt that you can see through the “V” in the collar. The division color is on the shoulders, like the Picard uniform.

Picard uniform breakdowns. Of course we're not sure if these are full star fleet uniforms, or cadet uniforms

Some takeaways from the trailer. It seems Admiral Picard will lead the Armada to save the survivors of the destruction of Romulus.

The vintage on the bottles of the Picard wine is one year before the destruction of Romulus.

Picard's flute from inner light can be heard playing in the background.

The narrator is likely the Co lead, who 8s most likely a Romulans.

My theory is that that Picard Armada is rescuing the Romulans, who wish to be rejoined with the Vulcan or live under federation protection. The Armada will will sabotaged or attacked by anti reunification Romulans and Remens. Some people close to Picard will likely die in the attack.

Number one, is currently directing episode 3 and 4 of Picard. Here Patrick and Jonathan at Dinner last night.

Also the spy pics we got last week, are of Star Fleet Headquarters, which they dressed up and used the exterior of the Anaheim convention center

In other news, TNG ended today, 25 years ago.

All good things, aired may 23rd, 1994
