The Sopranos vs The Shield. Which was better?

The Shield Season 5 is up there with The Wire Season 4 and I mean that as the highest compliment

But The Sopranos is iconic and mostly because Tony Soprano is a Top 5 tv character of all time. And they may have the GOAT intro for a television show ever.

"Woke up this morning/ Got a blue moon in your eye" I sang that intro every time I watched an episode

Sopranos Seasons 1-3 is the best television I've ever watched

The Shield 5-7 is some of the most addicting TV and satisfying conclusion to a series I've ever watched.

Sopranos for me slightly but the shield is up there and is the only show I watched that got better every season.

Sopranos Season 3 & The Shield Season 5 are the best seasons in each show imo

Joe Pantoliano & Steve Buscemi were huge additions to the Sopranos S3 just as Anthony Anderson & Forrest Whittaker were for the Shield.

Breaking bad also got better every season IMO

I lost interest in the sopranos around season 2 or 3, this was when it originally aired.

After all the godfather, goodfellas and casino as well as countless other 2nd tier mob movies of the 90's the sopranos felt tired and rehashed and I fell out of it pretty quickly on it's initial airing.

The shield on the other hand I've watched all the way through 2 or 3 times, it had a lower production budget/quality to the show overall, but it was way more original and fresher to me, whenever I watched the sopranos I always felt like I'd seen it all before too many times to care.

James Gandolfini was an awesome actor but the Sopranos just felt like a tired and rehashed Scorcese wanna be from the start.

The shield was OG, totally new and original, hit me with a ton of stuff I never saw comming, and I loved it, R.I.P. Lem.

Shield by originality KO finish, and the final episode was balls out perfection for the story overall, no chickening out on the shield.

The Sopranos is the best show ever made, nothing comes close in my opinion.
The shield is definitely in my top 5 of all time. Perhaps third after OZ.
