Media THE SMASHING MACHINE IS HERE!!!

This looks good I hope they do the Grand Prix justice. Looks like they did.

Very strange seeing an actor acting as a fighter next to real fighters acting.

Good times is imo a very good movie as well. Every studio will put out bad movies but A24 has a track record for quality especially on shit they both produce and distribute
Saw an A24 movie in theaters a few days ago (Warfare) and it was great.

Hope this movie ends up good. Not too worried about the casting. I remember about 10 years ago I was hesitant about the Olympic wrestling movie foxcatcher because Channing Tatum and Steve Carell were casted in it but it ended up being one of the best movies of that entire year

if you think this looks good, then i can surmise a few things about you

KK, after only seeing that short trailer in the other thread, maybe The Rock has what it takes as an actor to do a respectable job portraying Mark. He may pull it off, might even do it well. That face make up job had me do a double take, excellent job changing his look.

With Bas being involved, if he had any creative control, with his life experience and personally living as a top fighter being in front of, and behind the scenes, at the highest levels of different combat organizations would help make things as realistic as possible.

Hope this flick is a hit, the more eyes on the better !

i just dont see it and we already had the smashing machine, and it was already real and the actual fighters.

Anyone else notice Satoshi Ishii? Looks like he's playing Enson Inoue.

Pretty cool to see Pride recreated for the big screen. It's kind of hard to watch Ryan Bader play Coleman, but maybe I'll turn the mma part of my brain when I watch it
WTF didnt they just use Coleman himself especially since Bas is in it? Bader is a ridiculous choice.

Can someone explain to me why Mark Kerr is legendary and needed a film made about him
He is kind of legendary but he already has his own documentary. Truth is he looks close enough to the Rock (if Rocks given an improved nose), where Rock can have an MMA movie made for him.

The fact that it's an A24 film and directed by Benny Safdie give me hope that it will be a pretty decent watch.

Exactly my thoughts.
The only thing I find distracting is the rock's weird face prosthetics which make him look even less like Mark Kerr
