Like Tito, Bones is a dominating and polarizing champ largely due to a size advantages over his opponents. Like Chuck, Gus is calling him out while Bones is negotiating a new contract with Dana. Dana is trying to use public pressure to get Bones to sign a more UFC friendly contract. Bones is more business minded and free thinking than Dana likes out of his fighters, just like Tito was. Gus is more than willing to be a company man as long as he gets a title shot. Only difference is Bones already beat Gus. Still, Jones-haters will claim that Bones fears Gus even though he already beat him. Funny how Bones contract is up for renegotiation during this time, just like Tito's was. Meanwhile, DC is looking to be the Randy Couture of all of this. Hmm!

So was Jones contract up after his last fight or are they just renegotiating a new one?

If it is actually up, then it makes more sense why he didn't want to fight Gus in an immediate rematch. Obviously, losing the belt in your last fight on the contract wouldn't help you in negotiations.

You forgot, Like chuck Gus loves wearing blue knickers.

Not a very good comparison, Gus is angling for a rematch, they don't have a history as training partners, etc. I don't really see too much similarities between the 2 situations, well except the fact they're all LHW's.
