How would this be any different from humans going to a planet that doesn't have enough O2 so we have to build some structure and pump it full of O2 to live?

Sounds like Shaver read H.G. Wells' 'The Time Machine'.

It's basically the story of the Morlocks.

I dig it. Can i read the original work online?
I believe

You should post link to some info in Hunters Creed's epic paranormal thread....you'll get better responses.

Given that he sent something to Amazing Stories which would reprint old science fiction stories including War of the Worlds and The Time Machine, he likely read these and I'm sure they did play right into his paranoid schizophrenia.

If you really read into it, you will see other people taking from his themes as well:

Ancient Astronauts
-Minterpretation of Gods as Aliens

Alien influenced Government corruption

Alien Abductions (and this was pre even the Contactee era of UFO hysteria. The reported abduction phenomnon really wouldn't take footing until the 1960's with the Betty and Barney Hill Story).

Secret Undergound Bases

Etc.

Pre-Internet Trolling.:icon_chee

I think you are joking, but I actually totally agree with you. When you read the Discussion sections of the old Amazing Stories magazines, you really get the sense that this was their Internet Forum and you see people trolling, and people blasting other people for being morons, etc.
