The shame in insulting old MMA fighting skills when comparing them to today's standards.

In the golden era of MMA, fighters made their name in other martial arts and then went to compete against others who did so. So they mostly all had successfull combat records before fighting in MMA. Then they went on and created ways to become wellrounded, while also fighting a lot. Masters fighting masters was awesome and they created and developed MMA, because there wasn't any MMA info out there for them to just learn.

Today's pampered fighters train MMA right away, because the old timers created all the shortcuts for them and the fans act like today's fighters are somehow superior.

I was following the gathering of MMA fight info as it was being created. I know how MMA society learned stuff. And now these new f*ckers just come in and take that knowledge for granted and don't appreciate what it took to create it.

And act superior? Like it's somehow hard to learn something that someone else created. They even have no shame and watch old fight videos and make fun of old timers, if they don't perform a technique "properly". In those times the info wasn't as easy to get as it is today and THE LEGENDS made it available to the same brats that now make fun of them.

It's like making fun of older (pre internet) generations of people for not being as educated and even dare to call them stupid. Info is so f*cking easy to get these days, of course we can learn more, and waaay quicker than before, when you had to read books, or even before that, when you had to explore and find things out by yourself.

Learn to respect history and stop disrespecting those who made things easier.

UberJones would walk right over any version of Fedor and his little brother in the same night and could do it while CUTTING WEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111!!!!!!!!!!

you have it right. Fighting then was also more raw and truly gladitorial. Now its a fighting sport.

I agree however it's also important to remember that not all of the fighters in the old days of MMA were "masters". There were plenty of guys who seem rightfully completely ridiculous now, like the RIP system guy, Scott Ferrozzo, etc.

I doubt it, but I do know that a fringe top 10 LW on ten days notice walks over any version of McQuitter even when he doesn't have to cut weight!!!!!!!!!!

They were fighters.

Street fighters were masters of street fighting.

I edited it now:)

All probably didn't have combat records, but most did.

Only MMA fans can insult the older legends of the very sport they are fond of. You can't see the same in any other sports, Whether it's Track & Field or Football ( Soccer), Tennis etc. It's quite disturbing.

Wilt Chamberlin would clown those fools in the octogon today

Fakin McQuitter fans are insulting old legends.

Also, I find that it is typically younger "fans."

That's true. You don't see people calling Jesse Owens a can because Usain Bolt is faster.

Scott Ferrozzo - most underrated fighter in UFC history.

Yes I agree 100%, and it's usually the same type of fans who are doing it, mostly post-TUF fans, WWE crossovers and Conor/Ronda era lackeys.

You can see it in NBA too.

The new fans ridicule old NBA, because the players move more awkwardly on videos. Yet the f*ckers don't realise that back then ball handling rules were actually enforced. The players had to dribble the ball with the hand on top of the ball. I don't think people get how much harder that is than what players are allowed to do today. Try it yourself. I did and it's like different sport.

Not to mention the modern players being pampered with advanced food, training, arenas (air conditions are mostly perfect), equipment, travel, medicine and God knows what else.

Old timers played with f*cking short ball chrushing shorts and Converse sneakers, which alone is horrible. Let alone the strict rules and most weren't allowed to clown (which at the time meant what today is the most popular stuff). What you see in the NBA today was played on the plaaygrounds in the 60's.

But people don't know that, they don't think about it, they just insult legends instead.

so you're crying because someone was disrespectful to someone else, and none of them was you?

Without them, there wouldn't even be MMA. Max respect to whomever fought in those days. Just the unknown factors and lack of money shows how ballsy these guys were.
