The reason why GSP/Serra is the biggest upset (and by a LONG shot)

The biggest upset is GSP vs Serra I for its magnitude and stakes.

I'd give an honorable mention to Danny Lafever (0-0) knocking out UFC vet, Benji Radach (15-1), in less than one minute. The fight also came together due to a dispute about an ex-girlfriend or something like that.

Isreals not really close to GSPs level

current day gsp probably even beats him

Since I don't see it mentioned yet...Forrest/Shogun?

Forrest was basically signed up as a warm up fight for this supreme killer from Pride. I don't even think it was close, either. Didn't Forrest dominate him before choking him out? Pretty sure Shogun was injured, but still. Not many people saw that one coming.

This page has def a lack of knowledge gsp vs serra yeah it was a huge upset but it def wasnt the biggest I understand most of you guys here didnt live in that era prolly in you're late 20s 30s but I did and you prolly had to go back in time and watch highlights..

Gsp looks good on paper real good and he was good at what he did.

But to disrespect Matt Serra like he was a bum and not top 5 material is pretty ignorant..

Gsp was the only guy who finished him that speaks volumes sure did he give him a rematch hell no.. they both finished each other. Cool these are facts.

Serra losses are all to the top 5 guys by decisions karo Parisian. Matt hughes. Don Thomas bj penn shonie chris lytle.

And he was strictly a BJJ guy had terrible striking and he re invented himself I remember him working alot on his striking he kod gsp and won the belt.. def an upset for instance raging al fighting khabib for the belt because everyone else had faught or signed to fight.. he damn near coulda won that if he had a training camp.. and that woulda ben a bigger upset and with his rankings ..

But strickland a guy nobody gave a chance to beat a guy people thought was better than anderson silva on his prime .. just bested the guy who made strickland look like a bum... even sean didnt think he was going to win or have a chance imo I was in shock.. and the way he won..

When serra won I was rooting for him was an underdog yeah but it wasnt how you're making it out to be during that time.

Imo one eyed bisping wooping gsps ass for 5 rounds was way more disturbing then to see gsp counter his blind side and finish him in the 5 round was a tragedy lol who remembers this

Bullshit.

Serra was an unranked fighter, 1-1 in the division, 9-4 overall, who got his title shot off a split decision on a TV show.

There's been 1 bigger underdog, and only two (tied) bigger favorites, in UFC history. It was absolutely the biggest upset in MMA history. Only two fights had a bigger odds discrepancy, but neither of those fights were close to the magnitude of the WW title fight upset. Holm was ranked. Agapova shouldn't have been that big of a favorite.
