The reason Beterbiev KO's Bivol

beterbiev is a terror, but bivol's defense is sublime, his power is severely underrated and he seems to fight to the level of his opponent. i imagine we'll see the best bivol yet when they finally fight.

i'm picking bivol because he's younger and has taken less punishment, and i also think he's the better boxer. but there is truth to the argument that bivol might not have the power to keep artur off of him, and beterbiev is far more than just a puncher.
It's important to point out that Beterbiev also up levels his game in the biggest fights. IMO his two best performances were Gvozdyk & Joe Smith Jr,.....both title unifications. Should be a great fight, cant wait.

Bivol has excellent defense but you can slip the occasional shot through. In his last fight Lyndon looked like he actually hurt him to the body with a right hand in the 8th round (unless Bivol was just playing possum). Then in the 9th Lyndon had a moment where he started to rough him up on the inside and landed some nice body shots. If only he'd gone there more often he might've actually won some rounds.

Edit. I bring this up because…
Tim Bradley: “Bivol Has To Fight The Perfect Fight In Order To Beat Beterbiev”
I have a feeling Beterbiev is gonna be going for those straight right hands into the lower left side of Bivol's torso, thats what broke down Gvozdyk, and with Bivol's tendency to high guard he'll be open for it.

The UK fans watch their best fighters mop up against domestic level competition and think that's how it will play out against a top P4P fighter lol. Never fails. Callum Smith is a good fighter, but the gap between a Lenin Castillo, or a Jon Ryder, VS an Artur Beterbiev is wider than the Atlantic Ocean.
I don’t know a single UK boxing fan who picked Smith. The UK media was backing him but they are generally shills with zero integrity and I suppose there were some vocal idiots on Twitter.

Fair enough, it may have been the UK media that skewed my perspective. But i saw a shit load of regular UK fans on twitter and in comment sections backing Smith to KO Beterbiev.

Always picked Bivol to box his ears off,
This takes me back to 2019, thats exactly what they said Gvozdyk would do. People forget how highly touted Gvozdyk was. Excellent boxer.

Bivol bamboozles his opponents but people forget that Artur has already seen this style before many times and dealt with it. He knows exactly what a pendulum step is and how to time guys using it when they enter & exit. Lyndon himself caught Bivol to the left flank with a right hand on the exit and he's certainly no Artur.

Age is the only factor here against Beterbiev and its a big one, because in general I don’t think Bivol is as elusive as some folks think in terms of never getting caught clean in fights. If he can keep the pressure up and Bivol doesn’t commit to anything but a jab he is going to beat Bivol.

Age is a concern but Artur only has 20 pro fights so, on paper at least, he's a well-preserved 39 (his birthday is on Sunday). Of course he did have an extensive amateur career prior but he's a devout Muslim and lives a very healthy lifestyle. He didn't look old at all against Callum. That was one of his best performances to date. Top 3 anyway.

Yeah Bivol can be hit clean and he can be hurt. It's just tough to exploit. There are slight cracks in his defense though so it isn't airtight. Bivol was, or maybe even still is, the least hit fighter in boxing statistically. He's able to hold opponents to single digit connects per round. That's really impressive. Against Artur though he only needs to clip you once. After that it's all downhill because he's such a lethal finisher.

i guess that's what makes it such a compelling match up. the least hit fighter vs the guy who mows down everyone.

one thing that i haven't really thought about before is that both guys are a lot less effective when they're being backed up. bivol, despite being a superb fighter defensively, does his best work on the front foot, dictating the distance. and beterbiev is just a bulldozer, moving forward and fucking shit up. when people have had any success against them, however limited, it was when they could make them move backwards. canelo did his work when he controlled the center against bivol, gvozdyk did his best work when he backed up artur.

i'm not sure if bivol can put beterbiev on the back foot.

Eh, this matchup should be pretty on par with Gvozdyk vs Biev. Bivol being slightly up on points but coming under fire.

If Biev has lost a step given his age, it will end up with Bivol surviving and eeking out a closeish UD. If not Biev finishes him in the later rounds.

I love how we always get this UK fans blah blah blah garbage. US fans do the exact same thing but only UK fans get called on it.

@moosaev is obsessed with us brits. If he’s not making numerous threads about how biased we are, he’s bringing it up in threads that dont even include British fighters. It’s embarrassing tbh and like you say, everyone does it!

I wonder if the ring size is specified in the contract that Bivol has supposedly signed - I laughed when I saw the size for the Beterbiev Smith fight

I started one thread and I’m obsessed? Lol ok.

Btw. I’m not the only one who found it bizarre how many Brits thought Callum would KO Beterbiev.

But keep in mind, Beterbiev knocked down Joe Smith Jr twice while moving backward. He also was able to lure Yarde into a corner by moving backward and then turning him into the corner. In fact the kill shot against Callum Smith was a counter right while he was backed up against the ropes. So he’s still very dangerous moving backward. But yes he’s much more effective moving forward, a lot of that is because of the mental stress he puts on his opponents when he’s marching forward.

And you were told by Brits that your opinion is wrong. I live in England and everyone i spoke to thought Smith had no chance. Sky Sports did a poll and it was like 89% for Biev... maybe listen to the people from the country your claiming to be an expert on, and like i said before i've seen many fights over the years where the US guy stood zero chance of winning and yet the US fans were like "It's gonna be easy! USA USA USA!"

Maybe look at your own country's brainless fans instead of trying to sound smart.

And what makes you the expert on British fans? We live in a global boxing world where social media connects us, i don't have to live in the UK to have an opinion on this, and it's an opinion many people share. You're just butthurt buddy. I stand by everything i said, UK fans are the biggest homers in boxing. Go cry about it.

PS, American fans are notorious for being the least patriotic boxing fanbase. Majority of USA fans were rooting for GGG when he was fighting midlevel American contenders. When GGG fought Danny Jacobs in MSG (Jacob's hometown) majority of the crowd was pro GGG, when GGG fought Kell Brook in London 99.99% of the crowd was cheering for Kell Brook. Most american fans also regularly rooted against against Mayweather when he fought any foreign fighter. So don't give me this bullshit about Americans behaving the same, no we don't.
