Fighters will retire earlier. Ronda reminded us big time how life is about timing. 1 year ago she was top of the world and had movies lined up. Everyone wanted a piece of her. Instead of going for the big money and leaving the mystique of undefeated fighter......she fought on and had 2 devastating losses. Now if Ronda retired and Amanda did what she did to her every other fighter......people would always say yeah but they are not Ronda. She would have retired as a legend and everyone would fall short next to her aura. Now 12 months later she is mocked, humiliated and every fighter smell her weakness. Amanda approached that fight as someone who has zero regards for Rondas skill. And if she fights again so will her next opponent. Its really sad when you think about it.

The difference between Boxing/MMA and traditional sports is that if you compete all the time you are allowed downturns and the eventual fall from grace without damaging your legacy.

For Example Serena had a few down years and she was considered and all time Great but not a GOAT candidate, now everyone considers her the GOAT and it doesn't matter if she loses for the next few years.

In MMA your losses prior to the end are always going to be held against you. So if Ronda comes back and dominates people will always look back at these fights and show that they keep her out of the GOAT conversation baring a GSP like streak.

True bit Serena has had like 2 huge defeats in her career where she got destroyed in matches. One was in the 90s, the second one was against halep in 2014 in a group stage match in a tournament she won and gave the same beating back to halep. But Serena has never faded the way Ronda did, she never ever showed mental weakness and self doubt. You may say tennis is different from fighting. But the same nervousness can happen to players where they stop thinking, make bad shot and has no confidence in their attacking game
