His plan is very 90s Pedro Rizzo. The problem is that, these days there are plenty of tough mofos who can eat legs kicks and still function well enough to outlast and win. Alvarez and Porier both ate dozens of massive leg kicks and came through and won. Gaethje fighting at 155 because he thinks he'll be less drained than his opponent simply isn't working. Fighters who cut intelligently still have plenty of energy at 155. Hopefully he'll drop to 145 where his shots will be more impactful.

He's fighting top guys now. You land 15 of those on guys outside the top 20 and they fall down.

Still exciting to watch. Bittersweet, wanted him to win 2nd most to Poirier

hmm? Gaethje isn't small for 155. He simply needs to fight smarter. His strategy seems to be working great in the early rounds but when he gasses he gets sloppy as fuck and it's easier to land on him.

The problem was getting hit too much and not hitting back enough

Dude needs to learn how to pressure and not just absorb damage in the process. Take a step back, jeeze.

He's going to die young. That was bad. Gameplan = block with face

Didn't think Dustin was right at first but he was...Justin isn't very technical outside of the leg kicks.

He wings a lot of his punches and he doesn't have very good footwork to set up an evade after he lands the leg kicks.

He just throws leg kicks and turtles up instead of using his leg kicks to set up his punches.

It's a pity because Justin has beautiful leg kicks. His kicks are effective but he seems to only use them in hopes that his opponents will completely fold to them instead of using them to set up other aspects of his game

The just bleed gods blessed us with this dude.. He’s 100% guaranteed to have CTE though

Gaethje should drop down to 145 and face Darren Elkins.

He is a fucking wrestler that doesnt use his wrestling. He would rather get brain damage. He is done unless he changes his ways

He’s just too slow and flat footed. And somewhat predictable. Just leg kicks and wild hooks into possibly the clinch. He’s a damn good wrestler but has gone on record saying he will never shoot for TD. WTF? Guys at the UFC level are too technical then the WSOF guys. This isn’t Newell or Palomino(and he struggled against some of those guys) He realistically should be 0-3 if MJ wasn’t such a mental nutcase. But he’s not going to win a lot of stand up battles in the UFC against the like of Alvarez, Mcgregor, Barboza,Ferguson, etc

poirier is a seriously tough dude. two eye pokes and a leg getting chopped down like a tree and he goes out and gets the finish in the 4th.

and then you see how bad it is, the guy can barely walk out of the cage on his own. major respect.

He is small for the weight class. By his own admission he barely cuts weight.

He might want to try some head movement to pair with those low kicks

This dude is not going to have a high quality of life if he doesn’t change up his defense. That’s not an exaggeration. Gets the shit kicked out of him even when he wins. That “take some to give some” style is outdated AF. Fighters are too strong and just overall too good to get away with it at this level. I thoroughly enjoy his fights but it’s getting to the point where it’s becoming difficult to watch a guy eat so many shots fight after fight.

Gaethje was well on his way to winning that fight. Poirier couldn't keep that pace up for 5 rounds. Lets not act like Gaethje isn't up there with the best of them. You put him against any top 10 opponent there's a good chance he will come out on top
