THE piano thread

I won't lie, sometimes I like a little eye candy to go with the piano

@aerius smdh sometimes when you allow girls to participate in cool stuff shit like this happens

We must stop this at all costs!

Man...@aerius, before you mentioned pussy itt I hadn't thought of Martha in quite awhile. And then I went straight down the rabbit hole;

She is beautiful and this an absolutely fucking phenomenal performance. So thanks ;-)

So, a few reasons I'm absolutely infatuated by the piano; 1: physical. I'm not sure there is a better test of hand-eye coordination out there . @Sweater of AV might be able to wrong me on that one, but i doubt it

2. Art and sound...it brings them together like nothing else I can think of.

3. Historical significance; this is most important to me. It's difficult for me to really explain what I mean by that. Good chance I don't know what I'm trying to say...but there is music such as Prokofiev's "war sonatas" that were written and performed in Russia during WW2 and in fact premiered during that time. Chopin is another good example of this, hell 90s gangster rap in America works as well. The people live it might usually perform it the best. I guess what I'm trying to say is, this prokofiev war sonata is very good, and performed by the interpreter that was meant to premier it. This shit is nasty, basically.

Also, one of my favorite pianist and composers is the great Daniel Barenboim.

When he was younger, he recorded all of Beethoven’s sonatas from memory over the course of several hours.

Here’s his performance of all 3 movements of Beethoven’s Sonata No. 14 (aka Moonlight Sonata) as an older man, still performing the full 16+ minutes from memory!

It’s one of my favorite performances.

Okay friends (such as @aerius and not so @subtlySteve I have a particularly good one for you today

This would be Richter playing Rachmaninoff second concerto. Other people play it very good, but there is this...is something better.

Iirc he recorded all 32 beethoven sonatas TWICE when he was young. He is a very good conductor as well

Heard this one earlier today on the local classical music station. Thought it was interesting enough to share.

I don't know why but this Horowitz at home documentary always gets to me.

The Chopin Scherzo No 1.

That is real as well.

At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, he is the greatest artist of all time. Like....bettter then da sistine chapel or fucking cave paintings.

Did youm watch that entire documentaryy? I believe that crazy ass vers la flamme is from the same footage ...

@therealdope he performed the Rach 3 5 times in 1978. Before January of that year at carnegie hall he hadn't performed with orchestra for 25 years. LOL
