Hey @therealdope you seem to give me likes on 88 stuff; so I figured I'd make a thread here before I get banned from those pussies at the sports bar. I will start it off with Yunchan Lim, youngest ever winner of the Cliburn competition. This is a little tiny desk concert he did last year. @Sweater of AV I'm guessing you will enjoy this as well.

Here is a man that has a nickname called da DOC
He achieved that nickname by having maybe the most correct piano technique of all time (none of that swooning bullshit, duder plays the hardest music and sits there like he's performing brain surgery)

This video starts off with a song for left hand alone (it sounds like 2 hands) and finishes with the astonishing rewriting of Chopins op 25 11 (quite properly named "winter wind")

@therealdope you keep getting tagged because you keep responding. I am excited to share this because it is da DOC at his peak in the early 90s . Probably my favorite piano video of all time. The Tarantella is just completely savage. This dorky looking motherfucker plays VERY well. This is some of the best Liszt ever filmed.

If nothing else @therealdope watch that tarantella. The ending is wtf level. If you don't really know liszt music...I bet you've heard his Hungarian rhapsody 2.. That is absolutely an insane performance as well

I don't know much about the piano world since it only makes up a small part of my music, I remember some Oscar Peterson from my childhood since his music was often played on the local jazz station and when I was older I got to see Valentina Lisitsa at a concert. Valentina is my favourite so here's a video of her playing a clapped out piano in a subway station.

I watched some of his performances after you mentioned him a little while back. Guy's pretty incredible. I'm sure the fact that I'm not an expert makes it hard for me to appreciate how great he truly is, especially relative to his peers.

As a beginner pianist, having been playing for about a year now, I am a huge fan of Marc.

Seymour Bernstein, a renowned pianist and composer, traces his musical lineage back to Beethoven.

Beethoven to Carl Czerny, then to Franz Liszt, who taught Theodor Leschetizky. Leschetizky, in turn, mentored Clara Husserl, who became Seymour Bernstein's piano teacher.

He was born in 1927, and began teaching piano at fifteen.

I'll repeat that... at freakin'... fifteen he began teaching piano and had a class of pupils of his own.
