In boxing , Floyd obviously has the advantage and it wouldn't be fair for Conor as there's a huge difference in skill and experience. Boxing alone, Floyd wins easily.

To make the match even, there should be kicking allowed. No clinching, No takedowns, no ground game. Nothing, just punching and kicking. Primal shit.

Shoes or no shoes at 155 inside a boxing ring.

Who you got?

If kicks are allowed Floyd gets torn up. He has a very heavy base and would get destroyed by leg kicks, let alone head kicks or body kicks.

Nothing fair to Mayweather in a kickboxing match. He would get lit up with oblique kicks and teeps. It might be less competitive than a boxing match. A 40 year old man taking a side kick for the first time will not be pleasant.

Anyone remember BET"s Iron Ring?
On this show, professional MMA fighters that have yet to make a big name for themselves were selected onto teams representing five different weight classes (Heavyweight, Middleweight, and Lightweight [which the show contested at 170lbs rather than 155lbs]).

Each team had a celebrity owner and MMA coach who evaluated the try outs and selected contestants. Team owners included boxing champ Floyd Mayweather[1] and Rick Ross[1] managing the Money Mayweather Boys; hip-hop artist Ludacris[1] with Team Luda; Nelly[1] representing Team Nelly; T.I.[1] leading Team Grand Hustle; Juelz Santana[1] and Jim Jones[1] heading Dipset; and Lil Jon[1] with the Head Busters. Featured MMA coaches included Shonie Carter and Charles Bennett.

The respective teams then fought over the course of several weeks, building towards a finale that took place in New Orleans in February 2008.

Winners of each weight class included:
  • Heavyweight: Abongo Humphrey
  • Middleweight: Jamie Yager
  • Lightweight (170lbs): Josh Gaskins

The ultimate team winner was Team Nelly.

Exactly. Mayweather has perfected his craft by not having to worry about anything other than punches.

Boxing match with mma gloves would be fair, his guard and Philly style defence would be some what useless with smaller gloves, I could see mc great lad landing a lucky punch that would send Floyd into panic.
Have not seen any threads about the difference mma gloves would make to a boxing match. IMO most boxers would struggle with smaller gloves when defending punches.

Let's not forget a fight glove is only a couple ounces larger than an mma glove

12 ounce v 8 ounce, but the size difference is substantial.

How about this.....

We see who can type faster, then have each of them bake cookies.

Then we test their sewing abilities, and have them bake a cherry pie.

That's the only manly way to solve this.

Whoever wins gets to prance about in a pretty pink apron.

Philly requires shoulder rolling, leaning back and parrying strikes. Those are all possible with small gloves. Parrying is more difficult and blocking is not really viable but headmovement and good boxing is still available

Agreed but there is more room to land and a less margin for error when trying to shoulder roll against smaller gloves. You don't really see it much in mma because of that fact.
