Is that I'm pretty sure he played the whole MMA world, and the whole sports reporting world at once.

Think about it: he knows how vindictive Dana/Zuffa can be, and he knew that if they thought that he'd stepped too far out of line that they'd try to punish him.

So he did the one thing that he knew would raise their ire, but would look totally innocent to an outsider.

He also knew that this would be so much bigger than if the UFC attacked a different kind of person: as a member of the media, he represents a group that--as is obvious--literally controls the media.

He made HIMSELF the biggest story in a news cycle that included the huge story that he leaked. He got himself an interview on sports center--which might as well be a job interview.

Well done Helwani, you Machiavellian puppet master. You done good, ol' boy...

Who cares, even if it all was a make... UFC set themselves up for it. If you shit all over people all the time expect someone to drop a case of toilet paper on your head at some point.

But he was just staying true to his jounalistic integrity. He was obligated to leak it 30minutes early... it had nothing to do with twitter hits or promoting his own brand. The world had to know at that moment, Brock was scheduled to fight.

this whole thing was fucking staged you goofs. dana is obviously the one leaking the information to ariel. dana is the mole.

You're overthinking it and giving him too much credit. He decided (long ago) that twitter follows and attention took precedence over integrity.

Yup. Exact same thing I said. He played the game masterfully and won.

Nah, Ariel is smart. And he's a power monger just like Dana. And this scheme isn't even very complex.

You're under thinking it.
