The movie crash (2003) was the first really woke film I can remember being put out

wokeism is the attempt to address social issues through the thought processes of doofy from Scary Movie.

what definition of "woke" are you using? Is it the original slang term black people have always used to mean "be aware of social and political bullshit and lies" or is the term white liberals stole (as they do) and co opted for their own weird agendas?

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
Boys Don't Cry
Malcom X
Do the Right Thing
Mrs Doubtfire
Poetic Justice
Tootsie
American History X
Stand and Deliver

Just to name a few. If by woke you mean addresses social issues from a progressive perspective.
American history X is silly film if you really think about it if edward nortons character wasn't so woke in prison he would have served his sentence easily and been a respected member of his prison gang who probably would have changed later in life but now he had to live with a sexual trauma for life instead.

Liberals own woke now it has lost any of it's original meaning like the word racist or fascist.

Hollywood has always been extremely liberal. They've been pushing these values for over 100 years.
What values does Crash represent?

Do you think a story of police abuse of authority and making up a crime to indict a PoC (or anyone) for simply pushing back, is just holly made up fabrications? Or do you think they are just stories that should not be told?

What happened in Crash that was exaggerated? I don't remember it much.
A cop abused his authority when a person dared to push back on him, when he was wrong. The cop then arrested and lied about what the person did and it ends up in the PoC arrested and life ruined.

Stories like that are 'woke' now and not a part of our history that should be told, i guess.

If that's really his issue then yea I don't understand his complaints. I literally watch vids on youtube once a week at least of cops abusing their power and ruining someones life. Just watched one recently they did it to a women claiming DUI and she lost her job even though she had a doctors note saying she could take the medication and drive. She was white though.

I allready said Hollywood is liberal.

I allready said Hollywood is liberal.

Hard disagree.

A lot of people seem to think there's a "one drop" rule for liberalism, that if ANY director is liberal, the entire pool has been corrupted.

Hollywood only cares about money. They're investing trillions of dollars, all they care about is their return. They'll make the most progressive film imaginable... As long as it ultimately ends up creating net revenue. I qualified that because there are a lot of angles to why films are made, including harvesting awards, but all of these angles are only used to make money in the long run.

Where do you think the money comes from? Do you think the big wallets that own the studios are liberal? Do you think they have an agenda?

Also, if you took a look at all the movies that are currently made, you'd find that only a tiny percentage of them are progressive. I'm going to actually point out that "chick flicks" aren't progressive; I have no idea if you think they are, but a lot of people put them in the same bucket, especially in places like Sherdog.

Finally, if places like Netflix seem more progressive these days, it's only because they think they have an audience for them. It's all about the money.

Crash was a deep AF flick, emotionally moving, in a ton of different ways.

It showed So Many painful realities of life - without even blinking.
Wait, were talking about the bad crash, not the good one.

I know it's confusing since the bad one won an Oscar.

It's more so the way they type cast every single white person in the film as racist and bad and every minority even the ones who are criminals are actually morally good people but just in a bad situation. At the time not every movie was overusing this tired formula but now it is, so I guess I'm judging it based on that and think maybe this movie was the example that it probably had some influence on all these crappy movies we see nowadays

I just remember every white person in the film was like a fucked up person, a racist or a coward and everyone else was shown and being the actual better people but just in shitty situations. Pretty much the same overused trope you see in movies and shows today but prior wasn't really seen as much
