Anyone remember this movie?

I just recalled this scene

Movie has its moments and gets creepy.

Folklore from West Virginia.

In the movie a reporter gets sidetracked and ends up in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Weird stuff goes down and he wants answers.

Anyone have some local creepy folklore to share?

It was a meh movie....

There was a doc i seen about mothman which was creepier

I enjoyed most of it. The acting was good, it was well shot, and the story was compelling. Ending fell kind of flat though. It was also fun going back and researching the inspiration for the film, eg grinning man, Indrid Cold, etc.

Love the movie. The director Mark Pellington added a lot of flair to it, it wasn't just some straightforward supernatural flick either in the storytelling aspect or the visuals; he also directed the excellent Arlington Road. Have an imported blu-ray and the audio and visuals really stand out there. the score is very low key and enhances the mood well. Richard Gere is a pretty underrated actor, always does a good job as an everyman type where he doesn't have to basically tell the viewer to "look at me!"

The collector's edition dvd also came with a documentary about the Mothman phenomena which is always cool to watch before or after the film.
If I recall correctly there were even recent reports about a resurgence of the Mothman phenomena somewhere in the Northeastern quadrant of the U.S.

The Bunny man myth was big at a time here. The place is about 15 miles from here. Here’s an excert about:

“Perhaps the most famous of Virginia’s urban legends is the tale of the Bunny Man. On Colchester Road near Clifton, Virginia, the Southern Railway overpass is known as the “Bunny Man Bridge.” While versions of the legend differ, the most well-known recalls a nearby asylum shutting down. During the prisoner transfer, one of the transports crashed, killing all but 10. Half-eaten, skinned rabbit carcasses began hanging from the trees surrounding the area. The culprit was chased to the Overpass, where an oncoming train hit him. Ever since, it has been said that his ghost still walks the premises, skinning rabbits and leaving them for unsuspecting passerby’s.”

We used to drive thru the tunnel there, honking the horn. It made a crazy echo.

The Beale treasure is another big one. It’s closer to
Roanoke and I knew many people that had tried looking for it. Here’s a link about the cyphers for, it’s neat if into that stuff.

It was a movie with potential it never lived up to. The director had masterful ability to create creepy ambience that felt like it was building to a scary event, but never quite getting there.

Yes I remember this movie. My dumbass wife (love her dearly) is now scared of bridges because of this movie.

My mom was actually in this movie.

no I won't post pics lol

Loved this movie and I love freaking myself out with these urban legends. It's fun to just give in to your imagination and let yourself believe them for a bit.

Loved that movie.

It was playing on cable recently and I watched it again. Still holds up pretty well.
