The middleweight "division".

Why bother debating an opinion that basically says that Izzy is terrible?
If that is what you got from my initial statement, I don't know what to say. If you read it again, i'm simply disputing his statement that Izzy is "on another level". I'm saying Rob is close to his level.

I don't consider a fight were there is a clear cut winner as 'close'. Izzy won 2 rounds decisively. Romero/Costa is an example of a close fight were you could genuinely score the first 2 rounds for either guy, Izzy/Vettori wasn't that. The Vettori fight was also his second fight in the UFC, both guys have improved significantly since. Saying Whittaker would have beat Vettori more easily is strictly hypothetical. We wouldn’t really know unless they actually fought.

I don’t see how you can say he won both fights on average ‘far more clearly’. I’ll give you the fight, he won 3 rounds to 2. There was a ton of controversy surrounding the result of the 2nd fight. You can dig up any old thread on here or look up the media scores of the 2nd fight and you’ll see the overwhelming majority have it scored either a draw or a win for Romero ( I scored it a draw personally).

My dispute was with you saying Izzy is on another level to the rest of the division. I think that Rob is close to his level, as he has proved over his numerous top 5 opponents.

And 6/18 media members thought that Romero won his fight with Izzy. If you even the first fight where it was clear that Whittaker won, with his second fight in which the outcome was highly disputed, in my opinion you get a better average than Adesanya's one fight against Romero where the outcome was disputed. Although, this whole conversation is a bit pointless. I respect your opinion on this, I don't fully agree with it, but most of it checks out, so lets just leave it at that.

I think we basically agree on most points. My point with Vettori, I'm not saying the outcome was contested, I agree it was a clear 2 rounds to 1. I'm saying it was a relatively close fight. Vettori wasn't doing badly in the striking, and he won the third with his wrestling. I agree, both of them have improved, and it was an early fight for Adesanya, although I'm not sure his striking is much better, since the majority of his striking improvements had been made in his kickboxing days, however he has improved his grappling a ton.

Anyway, I think the majority of my point lies in Robs wins over top 5 competition. His resume includes a TKO over Jacare, four clear decisions over Till, Cannonier, Hall, and Romero, and a contested win over Romero again. I think this backs up my point nicely, because the level of his competition has been just as high, if not higher than Adesanya's. Obviously he lost to him, but I dispute putting Israel on an entirely different level.

Yeah reading back your comments i think i mixed up some of the names you mentionned by reading too fast. Rob and Romero sounds too much the same i guess. I personally always refer to Rob as Whittaker. My apologies, your comment made sense.

No problem bro, I know the Romero nuthuggers who insist he won every fight he lost are really bloody annoying.

HEY LOOK OTHER RETARDS AGREE WITH MY RETARDED OPINIONS lmaooooooo.

Mousasi is so overrated. I honestly don’t know where this worshipping came from. It’s gotten to the point where people are calling Mousasi the MW GOAT (if DQ Silva for roids) or 2nd greatest MW of all time or the fact that people considered him the current best MW in the world. It’s ridiculous.

Here’s some facts about his UFC career. Of his 9 wins, 6 of them have come against guys coming off losses.

Mark Munoz - Coming off a KO loss to Lyoto and was 1-2

Hendo - Coming off a RNC loss to DC. Was 1-4 coming into the fight.

Thales Leites - Coming off a SD loss to Bisping

Vitor Belfort - Coming off a TKO loss to Jacare. He was 1-2 before this fight.

Uriah Hall - On a 2-fight losing streak to Whittaker and Brunson.

Chris Weidman - On a 2-fight losing streak to Rockhold and Romero. Both KO losses

He has never beaten any real surging contender in the UFC. These guys were on the downside of their careers. It’s laughable that Mousasi fanboys list the over-the-hill versions of Hendo and Vitor as quality wins on his resume.

And don’t even get me started on Mark Hunt. He was on a 4-fight losing streak up until that point. But Mousasi fanboys, will praise their God whenever he gets an irrelevant win.

Izzy vs Mous comes down to if Mousasi can take him down and keep him there. I don’t see that happening. I wouldn’t call Mous overrated but I don’t see him beating Izzy.

The MW division of 10 years ago is better than today’s.

The best shape the division was ever in was right when Rockhold was about to challenge Weidman. Weidman was undefeated, but Rockhold was about to prove to be slightly better. Romero was breaking out as a serious wrecking machine. Mousasi was finding his footing in the UFC. Jacare was still extremely dangerous. And Whittaker was about to make hud mark in a big way. Other very tough guys, like Brunson, Branch, Bisping, etc. were in the mix as well.

You can do that to most guys. We’ve had this same debate about everyone. “Who is Khabib’s 5th best win, Michael Johnson??” As if everyone else has beaten a dozen hall of farmers.

There are a small handful of guys who wiped out every other contender in their division over the course of many years. After those guys, you’re left with resumes you can criticize. It’s very rare to have several guys on a roll at the exact same time, so inevitably most wins by anyone will be against a guy who was either past his prime, before his prime, coming off a loss, about to have more losses, etc.

Keep being obsessed with me virgin nerd hahahhahahah

once middleweight is popular again you dogs will complain about flyweights and hw again ...

round and round ... round we gooooo

MW boring af Kelvin done at that weight fatso needs to buy a treadmill, Shabazyan is bigger Lando (heard it here first), Till is Feint Master Extraordinaire, Brunson fights a like a fat high schooler, Costa is the pretty Kid who only won fights after his big growth spurt in elementary school, and Robs chin is made of Styrofoam. I dotn even like Izzy but hes the ONLY middleweight right now. Except for Vettori bc I like him and hope he can beat Izzy.
I don’t think this is the sport for you

That MW division was considered trash at the time. I don't think today's is too good either but hard to compare the two.
