Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

I feel like it could of done without the first minute or so and just kicked in with the main riff instead
Yeah, that's what I didn't like. First 1/3 is all build up, middle 1/3 song, then last 1/3 they are just riding the same riff the whole way out with no switch ups. Weird pacing.

The new album has some heat on it, but overall I get a little burnout on the "You can do it!!!" motivational song formula Kreator has been doing lately. It's kinda cheesy and over produced. Too melodic. I prefer the raw thrash sound from their early albums.
Me too

This is the problem with all the old thrash bands still doing it. COMPLETLEY uninteresting to me. Why bother when I can listen to the early records???

I'd argue they are all still worth seeing live, even if the newer stuff isn't as interesting. You usually get a good mix at live shows. New stuff keeps them touring so I like that.

A few are still doing it right on records though. That new Testament album is killer.

Sure, Overkill still kills too.

But the problem I am talking about is like the story 80% of the time.

These guys just are out of touch with what's goin on.

Imagine if these thrash bands had a production like this instead

That reminds me, Testament, Overkill, and Destruction are touring together. For some reason Overkill is on every part of the tour except the last show in the Bay Area. They haven't even named a replacement. I'm still going but still pissed about that. Such a sick line-up.

Was re-watching one of my favorite Morbid Angel performances (aside from seeing them with Pantera in 2001 when I was a kid), and it's just so killer. They were late to this show and brought all that rage with them, and even though it's hard to make out more than their outlines, I feel like it adds to the epicness of it. The crowd was going crazy, too.

Timestamped at "Rapture":

Pumped for that show, should be a really solid one. Weird that Overkill drops off there, though.

New Exodus track is solid. Love the super crunchy guitar tone. Dukes sounds good. Not a huge fan of the pacing, though. It's the opening track for the new album so it may flow nicely into the carnage that comes after.

I got Seasons in The Abyss vibes right away. Lol

also on the Exodus track when the lead guitar comes in at 2:40 it's very Sepultura Dead Embryonic Cells vibey. So I got big Slayer and Sepultura vibes but not much Exodus vibes. Some clear borrowing happening here.

I can kind of see that. I dunno about borrowing though. At this point everything has been done, and shit, Gary is in Slayer I think he gets a pass. Exodus also going on tour with Sepultura for there second retirement tour I guess? I'll be going to that one in Berkeley May 28th. Biohazard on the bill too. Looking forward to seeing them again because last time they closed a 9 band concert with Warbringer, Exciter and Forbidden and I was fucking sitting down by the time they came out like an old man.

Well it's finally here MegaDaves version of RTL and it's not great souds flat and yeah those vocals.

lol Pro Tools Ride the Lightning. All the power, the youthful energy, the spirit sucked right out of it.

Why the fuck would you try to re record this shit when you are 60 yrs old anyway?? ugh

It's what I expected it would be, but it still is very painful to listen to this.
