Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

Death 'n' roll was a trend for a while in the mid 1990s and its still a thing. and it sucks.
i want death metal, not 1970s buttrock inside a death metal package
Well the great thing is that theirs plenty of straight up Death Metal everywhere, so you still get all that, but if people want something a bit different in addition to that they have the option. I like groove and fun and a lot of Death Metal doesn't have that, so bring it on.

Generally speaking I prefer Thrash to Death Metal because the concerts are way funner. People are more likely to get down and rage, a lot of Death Metal shows I've been to is a bunch of people standing like statues barely moving their head. The Death Metal I see people, including myself, get the fuck down to at shows is shit like Skeletal Remains, so it doesn't have to be some Rock element to it to do it though.

you can have groove in death metal, i got nothing against that. Morpheus Descends has some of the best groovy riffs ive heard, for instance. im not into stuff thats made to be groovy, but stuff that has groove/grooves in it, if you get me.
specifically death'n'roll implies death metal + rock which is not what i am looking for. i feel like its a regression of the genre. i like death metal because of how far removed some of it is from rock music. same with black metal, grindcore, etc.

i went to Maryland Deathfest this year and there were pretty big pits for Incantation, Cenotaph (Mexico), Malignancy, Krisiun, Dripping and several others. I got in the pit myself for Incantation. but i do get what you mean about people standing around. i find what you say is more true for black metal shows in my experience. and i usually just like to stand and watch most black metal, haha. i do love some thrash though and damn right i moshed when i saw Razor at the fest.

Everything is relative ya know ? What's in a number ? :):):)

Death N Roll Carcass just sounded like Youthanasia Era Megadeth with harsh vocals to me.

Why anyone would want that after being into Carcass before, is baffling to me lol

Listening to lots of Sabbath - oriented stuff lately like Green Hog Band :):):)....there would be no such riffs around today without Iommi and the boyZ....

Ya'll need to calm down they had one experimental album like that. Their come back albums Surgical Steel and Torn Arteries are nothing like that.

Apparently you are the only one that cant forget about it lol Surgical Steel was fucking sick brah

Like they stopped from 1996 to 2013.

So that whole time that death n roll shit is the last thing they heard. So what's to forget? Lol

that's ok but just shitting on a genre with zero context is pretty useless too! oh wait you called it childish which makes no sense at all. lol
By childish I mean useless to the real world......delusional like :)

They have one Death n Roll album "Swansong" and that actually helped to birth melodic death metal.
Actually Entombeds second Album WOLFERINE BLIUES got this tune in 1993 (Swansong came out 96). What i know about Swansong was, they told once (interview i have read) that Carcass Company told them to do music more for broader peoples ($$$) So they did so.

Loved this song from that album the most: (hollowman - best song)

Swansong..... hmmm not my fav but one song is especially good - TIGHT TIGHT riffing (starting at 0:54 min mark):
