Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

I remember listening to them in high school around 1999 or so after finding one of their songs on napster of all places. I came across them again a few months ago and realized just how generic they are.

I can’t think of another band that sounds quite like The Razors.. they’re genre is groove metal I guess, and maybe very early Machine Head would come the closest in sound to them.

I listen to all kinds of shit from well known bands like Slayer and Hatebreed to off the radar noise rock bands like Unsane, Whores or doom-ish stuff like Floor and so on.. and I wouldn’t call Pissing Razors ‘generic’. Most people have never heard of them. They’ve got some badass riffs and they’re tempo and riff change ups give them an odd and distinctive sound.

Edit: just realized how old this thread is and that I already responded to SE’s post haha..

Mixing metal and epic scores/trailer music to create something awesome and unique imo.

Shameless self promotion. I recently joined a second black metal band as a singer and we just released our first album. Here it is!

This song is pure concentrated testosterone. I remember hearing it live and it gave me teh chills. Also Hegg is one of the most badass extreme vocalists, he growls like an angry bear

I'm not a huge Black Metal fan, but I can appreciate the musicianship, and this is really good. Nice work.

Are these guys as good as people are saying? I remember people hyping Deathspell Omega for years and when I heard it I wasn't so impressed. I hope these guys are better.
I would say they are simultaneously pretty great, while being overrated by those who enjoy an almost blackgaze feel to their BM. In that way, it reminds me of Wolves in the throne room and Deafheaven. More musically common with the former(though vocally not close to either) while overrated by hipsters like the latter.

I will say that exercises in futility is their best album, and it doesn't dissapoint. Maybe a lack of aggression is its one downside, but i enjoy it immensely. Just give it a spin yourself, and my description of everything is a bit off. It's hard for me to describe bands very well.

I first thought you asked if they were good live (they are, saw them twice), but then you mentioned DSO who has never played a single concert. Well... just listen to them and make your own opinion, they don't have a big discography and their success is pretty much based on just two albums (With Hearts Toward None - Exercices in Futility. The older EPs Mdłości and Further Down the Nest are really good too).
